DOB: 26/12/1975

Height: 193 cm

Weight: 89 kg

Playing number: 17

Arrived: Drafted with pick 36 in the 1997 AFL Draft

Debut: Round 13 vs West Coast, 1998

Games: 17

Goals: 4

Departed: Delisted at the end of the 2001 season

Judd Lalich was a mobile key position player, drafted from East Perth in the 1997 AFL Draft. He impressed at draft camp, having previously also played U17 cricket for Western Australia. He was fairly pacy, and was one of the fittest players at the club. He played two mid-season games in his first year, getting involved in the first game but doing very little in the second. 1999 was his most productive year, playing nine matches, but his hard work couldn't get a game at all in the all conquering 2000 side. 2001 was his final year at the club, by which point he was playing as a second ruckman. He played six matches for the year, showing some promise, but not enough to justify another year on the list, and was delisted at the end of the year. He has since played for the Uni Blacks in the VAFA.

Interesting player.. came to the club at a time where it was hard to get a gig.. one of those blokes that could have had a very different career had he come to the club at a different time.. like arriving in 2004..

Was a more skilful and pacy version of Ambrose imho..

Actually skills and decision-making were major issues for Lalich. He couldn't overcome these obstacles to forge a longer AFL career.
I disagree.. but all good!

Decision making was suspect.. but his kicking was ok.. not great vision but solid.

Judd Lalich is proof that even though you can run around all day and are very tall and athletic, it doesn't mean you are a good football player.

He was not a football player, just athletic and tall. In the similar mold of Mark Bolton.

I wish afl clubs would focus more on footballers rather then athletes.

St. Kilda have since tried to follow up this success story with the recruitment of Rhys Stanley.
