Did anyone watch much of Paddy last season? That was the 'Shattock pick' and they passed over a bigger, quicker guy in Moran for him, yet I didn't really hear much about him during the AFLQ season.

Can anyone walk me through the thinking here?

xplo, I think we're playing the percentages there. Moran, while quick is most definitely a project player and I think we may have thought that after taking Wood @ 18 that Moran may have been too much of a punt, also taking into consideration we've also got Merrett on the list who could arguably still be thought of as a project player. We would have been rapt to see Moran slide through to the rookie draft, but alas...

Although I haven't seen Garner play, we'll be in a spot of bother if we don't draft some CHB/FB types to be ready when Leppa and Mal give up the game. As mush as I rate Brennan's potential you wouldn't put your house on him deveoping into a reliable CHB. The more of these types we get the better. I hope we can get some of the young tall QLD kiddies onto our rookie list like Will Hamill.

I'm still trying to get over the fact that Footscray drafted Williams @ pick 6!!!

Thanks Maazo. If Paddy is a more developed option, then that makes some sense. With Spaanderman, Merrett, Brennan and Wood there is already a big 'if' factor in our big man department.

I must admit I had kinda become attached to the idea of picking up either Moran or Williams - but not to be.

There was talk before the draft that Williams could go anywhere. In fact this WC Eagles guy was pretty impressive. He tipped Williams to go at 16, but also said there was a good chance he could go to the Dogs at 6. Fair call.
