It was paid as a mark, must have been the same umpire that paid Ablett the mark after sitting on Gary Pert's shoulders back in 1995.

Super leap. Had a great view from the wing i was on at the time. Lots of gasps from all around. Thought he just about did enough too to have it paid.

just watched the highlights on BomberTV and thought the same thing, hopefully he does more of them and holds them longer so there is no doubt.
Didn't hold it long enough for mine.
Glad the umpire played it though. Its pretty exciting that a ruckman can leap so high.

looks to me he has a little more confidence this year, I like what Sheeds has done with him this pre-season
He's confidence is a mile ahead of where he was last year.
Just everything, the socks down, running with the ball off half back, going up for a mark like that aswell as shouldering the ruck for the All stars a couple of weeks ago.

A leap and a half. He also had a bit of a deceptive look about him during the game too.. he's very tall, and yet it looked completely natural for him to take the ball off the deck at pace (as if he was 180cm not 198)
Very true whirl, thought I was looking at Dempsey at one point but it was Pat.

He certainly looks more composed than last year. Just wondering whether he has done enough to leapfrog Laycock. On performance against Carlton, he looks like he has improved, but still will be behind Laycock. Just wondering what everyone else thought and if there is enough room for three ruckmen plus CJ in the team.

I reckon Ryder is going to be a gun for us over the next few years. He and Dempsey are reason enough to salivate, for mine. That's not even mentioning the potential of Jetta

Yeah great jump, but anyone can get some air. When he actually performs well in a a few matches this year, which im sure he will then we will have a real reason to get excited rather than a mark that was barely a mark.

I don't he's miles off, wasn't a bad leap but.
He has at least 2 years in Bendigo before he will be concidered good enough to take on the likes of Cox consistantly.
I think Laycocks coping a raw deal here he hasn't played enough footy due to injuries to really have any match fitness or confidence.
I said it a while ago but if he plays this season injury free he will be our starting ruckmen by the end of the season.
