Yeah he did miss this year but was an absolute gun in the Tac cup last year, has a lot of talent

Mick Turner was very critical of the club for not picking up Allen last year. A year out with a knee is a worry but it sounds like he might be worth putting on the rookie list at least.

I personnally was dissapointed when Geelong did not pick up James Allan last year. After watchin the kid play in the TAC and u-18 championships, i was sure he could make it in the big league. he has silky clean skills, and a pair of good hands to compliment it. he averaged around 40 possies a game last season playing mainly as a rover. Was highlyrated around the league as a small midfielder. the only factor as to why he didnt get drafted last yr was probably due to his size. He is a small bloke, around the 170 mark. the only reason we didnt pick him up was due to our focus on key forwards that yr. however its prob unlikely that we'll pick him up this yr in the draft or rookie draft as we have a ton of midfielders at the club already.

Here's a thought:

There is a likelihood that Andrew Carrazzo will not be with us next year (though i wish he would be), most likely due to the fact that we have plenty of other small sized ball winning midfielders at the club (Kelly, Ablett, Spriggs). So by suggesting that we draft James Allan at the Rookie Draft, wouldnt that be like drafting Andy Carrazzo all over again?

Both are small midfielders and win a ton of the ball (30-40 possies a game). So if Geelong were to get rid of Carrazzo, then there is poor chance that Allan will be drafted.

I reckon James Allen is much more talented than Carazzo and does more with his possessions. His height worries some but he is as gutsy as I have seen.

how did Allan do his knee?

he did it in a pre-season match in camperdown. originally it was thought that he had done his lateral but weeks later it was found to be his ACL

Allan would be an absolute bargain on the rookie list. The kid can seriously play!! If we are going to draft a local kid and keep this policy of local boys going then Allan is the one. As for Travers, sorry he's not up to it.
