he is yet to convince me that he is going to be a player, he was a first rounder, when should we start to expect bigger things from this man,

i want him to prove me wrong but at the moment i just cant quite see it

Anything he does in 2007 is a bonus. Needs to start showing something by 2008.

At best, a team leader without having great ability, will be an honest toiler who gives 100% and does a serviceable job each week - sort of like Benny Gale.

At worst, simply not up to AFL standard.

IMO he will be end up being closer to the "at best" scenario.

Plenty of top 20 draft picks haven't been good enough for AFL.
Just because we had five picks in the top 20 in 2004, doesn't automatically mean all five are going to make it.
At the moment nobody would doubt that Deledio and Polo won't make it.
The jury is still out on Tambling, Meyer and Pattison.

He looks an ungainly type, will never win an award for a smooth mover but when he gets the ball he doesnt bumble around and gets on with it. The problem is hes not a key forward which is where he's played the majority of him limited game time in the seniors thus far, he's a ruckman with a huge motor and once he gets more ground time he'll show a lot more worth to the side

The theory I have seen is tall KPP type players take up to 5 years to make it or not. Patto's still got another 3 years before we give him the flick. That is assuming is attitude stays ok.

Tambling will prove to people next season why he was touted as being the number 1 pick...
The jury is still out though CB7. I think he will surprise a lot of people (especially those who follow the poos and wees colours) next year and beyond, but that facts are that the jury is still out.

I've been trying say that for two years he won't make the grade and will be delisted.

go back and watch patto against the hawks

taking marks left right and centre

will be a player

I beleive he will make the grade, I respect your opinion but too many people take style over substance, Patto may not have style but for a Big Kid he has a lot of substance to his game....

His motor is his biggest asset along with his attitude to use that motor. The Kids attitude is fantastic and wants to be a senior player right now.

His kicking while looking terrible, hits more than misses and his marking is brilliant. For a guy that big he looks like he's extremely slow, but he does get around quickly.

I reckon he will be a part time forward and part time ruckman, which is good for us as Simmonds is the same type of player and they will work well together!

I have bright hopes for all the first 5 picked in that famous 2004 draft for us.

Deledio will be a superstar, Tambling will rival him as the best player from that draft after this year, I am the biggest fan of Meyer, reckon he is a year away from showing that he will be elite, Patto as just been mentioned looks a solid pick and Polo is just a pure leader and a vital player for us already.

Has anyone seen him train this pre - season or read about him?

Obviously the thread creator hasn't. His skills have improved a lot so far and his work ethic is great for a big man...he'll make it and TW loves him so he will give him every chance to

Some of his ruckwork last season in a couple of games looked very good for a second year player. Nowhere near capable of matching it with the best in the ruck yet, but ruckmen really only start to hit their prime around 25. Will probably provide us with more as a forward/2nd ruckman for a few years. Has only shown glimpses so far, but those glimpses have been very promising IMO.

I think we need to give him time .... our history is not good moving big men on early ... didn't Matthew Clark play Tigers Thirds? (Brisbane and Adelaide sure thought he had potential!!) But then again we did get Brownie for Ottens???? Hmmmmm

Do l finally hear a hint of optimism coming from PLSC, or is this just another opportunity for you to disagree with everything everyone else says?

FWIW, l agree with you (bet that hurts). Patto has been with us for two seasons, he's not yet 20, he's a big fella who will take time... and still we have people not giving him a chance. Just relax...

Look, Patto is a very big man, young and some may say un-orthodox. He has only been with us 2 years, i am sure he will develop into quite a 'tap' ruck man however like all young ruckman it will take time for him to develop his trade in the hussle and bussle of AFL football.

Is he now a starter in the first team ahead of knobel??

yeha top call rainsy...
i'd love to see patto get more games in 07...i really think the guy has got plenty of talent. People talk alot about him as a ruckman, but what about him at CHF? Payed well there in Under 18's comp's, good off the lead and has got the smarts to carry out such a position. What do you think
