Hes out of contract at the end of the year. Geelong has been trying to negociate a contract with chappys manager and that has now been put on hold till the end of the year.

IF and thats a big if..........there is any chance at at all of getting him to melbourne, i say we move just about heaven and earth to get him. (not our number one pick, only thing out of question for me)

He oozes leadership on the field, aggressive (without going over the top) vocal and his skills and hardness are sublime. Could be the next capatin of melbourne just like carlton did with judd if he walked into the club tommorrow, and i have no doubt he would be able to pass on so much to our younger players.

Probaley a pipe dream but hes out of contract maybe hes waiting for a big pay day that geelong cant give him? Even better we can get him for free in the pre season draft.......:rolleyes:
 
no way hed leave geelong, but i agree a bloke like Chapman would be invaluable huge huge part of Geelongs turn around into a completely professional outfit.

And thats why we wont get him.. he'll sacrafice for the team and get paid less, pretty much said so on Footy Classified this year, would take some sort of major falling out...

any chance we can pay brent grgic $20 to stalk chappys g/f so she needs to get a restraining order and move to melbourne to get away from him?:cool:

and he'd stuff it up anyway and become best friends with her :D

Like i said its a pipe dream, but if he wants to go to a club and hes out of contract you will get what your given.

Havent seen chappys g/f - but i dont mind the occasional stalking, and if its helping the MFC all the better :D:thumbsu:

add completely selfless on the footy field, a proven goalkicker and a player that knows what it takes to achieve a premiership to that list, invaluable to a young list like ours that wants to go somewhere, while not the calibur of Judd in terms of brilliance, he could walk straight into the footy club and command the respect of the group.

shame really, with all Geelongs stars chappy will go real underpaid for the value he provides that club.

anyway, time for a pipe dream :p
 
As much as I love Chappy, I can't see him coming to Melbourne.
I would say he is a little too old for Bails to look at him. He is turning 27 this year and has been restricted in his playing time this year due injury. Bailey has always sai he wants a team to player to develop from 24 and under. Plus we got a younger version of him in nathan Jones.

I wouldn't say that is particularly accurate. Perhaps in terms of some mental attributes they are alike, but relating to physicality, I think Chapman is quite a lot more dynamic and has a higher level of skill. Jones excels in other areas though.

I agree on the age sentiment though, and in addition, there is no way Chapman would leave Geelong at the current point in time, especially as he is one of the players who has been there through their development cycle. Why would he experience the hard times only to leave when things are going well? The answer is he wouldn't, unless he wants to chase a few dollars (which is unlikely).

I don't think it's a horrible comparison. They have more in common then their weekly calls from the blokes at advanced hair

Think about that game against Brisbane where jones kicked 4 goals, was very much Chapmanesque perfomance
 
Chappys over the hills in 2 yrs, if not before then..

Footy will have taken its toll on his body and he will be just labouring, thats why his contracts wouldve stopped to a halt, because Geelong would be aware of this..

He will sign at Geelong, no doubt, the bloke has been playing long enough to realise that Premierships are more important that anything else in footy - including money, Chaps aint no Fevola..

also i think the same of chris judds brother, we seem to get good at getting the brothers but not the players lol
 
I'm not sure he is the player we need now. Love him playing for the Cats, but I think he would be disappointing at Melbourne.

**** geelong have a wicked supporting cast, not sure he would get the same at the G (not yet anyway).

fk me dont think chappy is that old he was playing in the under 19 comp lmao:D how long did that go out? back in about 1990 wasnt it? Pretty sure chappy is my age or even a year younger around 27.

Yea i heard that bout judds brother not sure if its true though, and chappys brother died a while ago, he has the tattoo of him on his back/shoulder.

Add another two dud brothers to what we have recruited: Gasper (cant remember his christian name but brother to darren and travis) and Luke Ottens brother of brad who is now playing footy in south australia, apprently injury plauged still.

Not ture, i played with him in 2005 at my local footy club and he was a gun, he then left after one year to play with another club in the same league. He then retired and is now no longer playing.

ok must have missed interpreted the conversation i had with brad ottens one night pissed at a local down here in geelong. :confused:

Think i remember him telling me he was back in adelaide and i thought he said he was playing footy, mind you that was after about 15 pots.

Yeah, I think your reliability may have been somewhat diminished after that many :p

In saying that, I have no idea where he's playing, so you may be right.
 
There is more chance of us signing Pavlich & Brown in the same day, as there is in us landing Paul Chapman, trust me..

LOVE the idea though, much under rated player in some corners!
