I ventured down to PP yesterday to watch the lads go through their paces and noticed Sydney coach Paul Roos and one of his side-kicks watching training from the bottom deck of the old Hawthorn stand. He was busy taking notes and it is little wonder clubs hold at least 1 closed session a week.

I over heard Roos mentioning how much of an athlete and monster Asaike O'Hailpin was. For the record the big fellow trained the house down and will be a definite starter in the nab cup and St African games. I have a feeling he will be a better long term proposition than his brother. He appears to have a better feel for the game than Setanta.

Another player who has put on some serious size is jamieson. He definitely looks like he could hold down full-back.

Not impressed with the attention on Aisake. I have a feeling they'd grab him if they got the opportunity. There was talk about Aisake's massive potential in Swan's circles a year or so ago. :)

If he has even half his brother's passion for the navy blue then I don't think we have anything to worry about...

Ppl are forgetting that Aisake was considered miles in front of Hammer in terms of development last year and would have got to debut well before Sean if he hadnt broken down.

All the talk has been about Hammer supporting either Cloke or Christina Acklandera but Aisake may very well end up playing a major role in the ruck next year

Have been reading posts about Hammers rucking against white (?) and they were glowing reports for a first game ruck. Have been hearing constant things about Aisake from training reports etc :- theres just a constant reference to him.

Excited about these guys.

If Spida retires at the end of this years you'd think Sydneys ruck stocks are now thin.

With Carlton, having Kreuzer, Hampson, Aisake, Cloke, Ackland and Jacobs as ruck type talls perhaps roos is thinking come end of season we can't have all these players vying to be the number 1 and 2 rucks... so he may entice one with a bit of extra cash as come 2008/2009 the Swans big paid stars will either be retiring or on lesser contracts as they come toward the end of their careers.

But I think Aisake is on a 2 year contract?

I take some comfort from the fact that Sydney could no longer see themselves as being 'one quality ruckman away from another premiership' as they did when they secured Spida's services, they are on the cusp of a serious rebuilding phase now.

Having said that, their gameplan (particularly scoring from stoppages) does rely heavily on quality ruckmen and maybe they will look to do their rebuilding around a quality ruckman (although will Roos really stick around as coach for long enough to see them all the way through a rebuilding phase?).

With Kreuzer, Hampson, Aisake, Cloke, Ackland and Jacobs on our list I could understand other teams seeing Carlton as breeding a lot of young rucks (al la Brisbane & Kangaroos over the past couple of years) and can see why clubs with holes coming up in the ruck in the next few years would be taking interest.

However, of our 3 promising young rucks, I would be least concerned that Aisake may be lured to another club on account of his brother being at the club and the passion that he emanates for the navy blue.

Jamison needs to get on the senior list before he can hold down the full back posi.

As a nominated rookie he can play all 22 games this season, without having to wait for an injury.

I'd be surprised if he didn't feature heavily very early in the year.:thumbsu:

IMO it would take a miracle for all of Ackland, Cloke and Jacobs to remain on our list next year.
If Aisake and Hampson go well this year I would expect at least 2 of the above to be told they are no longer needed.

4 Ruckmen on the list would be the right amount.

IMO, that's great coaching by Roos. He's doing the dirty work himself instead of sending out some goon from the staff. Good on him.

Aisake has definately tonned up, and he's a pretty freaky site close up! I'm sure he's as lovable as Irish (Setanta) though:).

Also, when Aisake makes his debut, will we still be able to refer to Irish as Irish?

I don't know how to respond to this..........what will you do if Shields gets a game as well........hell you might have to learn their names.

You mean, there will be no more calling Irish, Irish? Maybe we can sort some sort of Irish system out where we can refer to Irish as Irish, Irish's brother as Irish Irish and the other Irish as Irish Irish Irish.

Where there's a will, there's a way:D. Anything so that I have a nickname to refer to them as!

Try:
Carlos - Setanta (as in Carlos Santana, guitar God)
Zacchy - Aisake
We'll worry about Shields when we need to.
