Failed miserably and scared to be different and make changes. Has banked on the will of his pet players this year and it has not helped him to defensive.

****ing mathews, mcveigh, bevan, those 3 in paticular shit me so badly, i will be so thoroughly miffed off next year if either of those 3 even get near the selection table.

passengers of the highest order, all 3 don't even come near the quality of malceski combined.

you can't doubt roosy coaching ability. his record speaks for itself... he has taken the team to finals footy year after year...
what let him down tonight was the execution of some players and that in conjuction with the team that brings out our worst, made it a shocker of a night

And his lack of nous to out coach Malthouse in thh coaches box. All Malty was doing was moving his players around creating mismatches for us and all Roos did was move Goodes around as his Mr Fix it. Not good enough from him or his match day assistants.

Another factor could possibly be the lose of assitant coaches hasn't helped. Why is Blakey out forwards coach and Longuire now the midfield coach when both as players played in opposite positions to what they are now coaching? It doesn't make sense to me.

Paul roos reminds me of the old coaches like Tom Hafey who persevere hoping that their man will eventual beat his opposition. A bit like me playing AFL 2007 on PS2 and not being bothered in making constant changes when i am down and getting flogged.

is it Roos is just a 2 dimensional coach who had some good assistants in 05?

Leo on Rusling pretty much the entire night. He took him off him for a short time then before you know, Leo is back over with him again. Leo is what, 10 years older then Rusling? There was no way he was going to be able to go with him.. what a terrible match up.

i don't think its as simple as shuffling a few players around. Their footskills were simply far superior than ours. Some of their passing to Rusling and Rocca was unspoilable

So he basically conceded defeat before the game started. Why couldn't he be daring..take a few risks. I wish he had the guts of Malcom Blight. At least Blighty had the guts to try Hall down at fullback around the same time Halls form with the saints mirrored this season.

Try something break the status quo up. If it doesn't work then so be it..but at least he tried something different.

Don't underrestimate Malthouse as a coach. He's one of the best in the business. In my opinion, Collingwood have an average playing list and Malthouse because of his good coaching has them having a chance for a final 4 finish.

Paul Roos, might be one dimensional at times and he needs to change it for the better and try and be daring by making bold moves but don't underrestimate the ability of his opponent.

PS: God, it hurts me praising Collingwood.

perhaps should have tried something different like hall on rocca (which i had suggested pre-match;)) Roosy as you pointed out is perhaps a little too conservative at times

Hate to disapoint but didnt roosy say that next season he will be giving the 5 or 6 year players first preference again? Said it in the press conference last night, guess that means Ben Matthews will have another full season lol.

Maybe 2008 will be Roos' last season, and Longmire will have a licence to make the tough calls and rebuild from the ground up in 2009.

i think Roosy has done a fantastic job with this particular bunch of players, but I think even he is out of clues to know what to do with them now, and has always said that it is this playing group that he will bow out with. His desire to blood new young guns and take the swans into the next chapter, is not really there, and there is no way he is ever going to drop players like Hall, Leo, Mickyo, no matter how old or out of sorts they get. Its just not in him to do that, but its those hard calls which probably need to be considered over the next 12 months, to make way for the younger playing group to come through. Grundy, Vogels, Schmidt, Brennan, Barlow etc, led by the Malceski's, Goodes and ROKs of this world.
