Pavlich for Draft Pick 1

If we finish last we will get the number 1 pick regardless. Carlton may snare a priority pick in the national draft before our first pick if they don't win anymore games. This does not entitle them to first pick in the preseason draft as well. That is how I thought the system worked. Correct me if I'm wrong.

An injury prone midfielder who has played some reasonable footy and a second round pick for one of the games elite???? I doubt it champ.

We could drafted Matthew Pavlich for pick number 3 in the afl draft 1999 but we drafted Aaron Fiora who plays for St.Kilda now. Matthew Pavlich was drafted a pick later by Fremantle. But that year we could of drafted the likes of Matthew Pavlich, Joel Corey, Luke McPharlin, Darren Glass, Robert Murphy, Brad Green, Paul Chapman, Daniel Giansiracusa, Mitch Hahn, Cameron Ling, Lindsay Gilbee, Corey Enright, Chance Bateman, Ryan O'Keefe, Ben Johnson, Cameron Bruce, Ryan Hargrave and Robert Shirley. But instead we choose Aaron Fiora instead of all those good players.

Gee there are a few good players in that group aren't there!

All the rumours revolving around Pavlich and his decision to stay or go and the ridiculous asking fee of $1m per annum!!!
Can anyone provide some facts to justify all this hype (eg. average goals per match, contested marks, kicks, hard ball gets etc...) during his career at Freo?
Is he far better than Brown, Reiwoldt, Hall, Rocca, Lucas and Lynch (just to name a few)?
Interesting times ahead for the Pav and the direction he decides to take!

Interesting thread..
Richmond are a centre half forward and an injury free midfield away from playing finals.. All this talk of Richmond being years behind hawthorn is crap..
If Brown and Richo do a full pre season with no hiccups and coughlan, deledio, johnson, foley, tuck can all be on the park at the same time you guys would be a much better team.. Throw in Pavlich at centre half forward, you guys would be right up there with the best..
If he is on the market a club like Richmond should go all out to get him.. Pick 1 and pick 17 for him.. He has got another good 5-6 years left in him..
Would be good to see all the victorian teams right up there, just like the old days..

I dont think the tigers have any chance of getting pav, Wallace seems sure that he only wants to bring young kids in and not spend a heap of cash to get a high price player..... i reckon we need to do it though.

How about: four times All-Australian at the age of 24 (i.e. around the same age as Tuck/Krakouer/Newman/Pettifer/Hyde).

For some reason he hasn't done very well overall against Richmond but barring injury he will be regarded as an all-time great by the time he finishes.

Pav probably wouldn't get a kick playing in the same forward line as Richo.
He'd be at the Burgers in no time.
