Fall Out Boy

Just been announced that Seattle have sent Gary Payton and Desmond Mason to Milwaukee in return for Ray Allen, Joel Przybilla and Kevin Ollie.

Interesting deal this.

Gary Payton will have to play in the same backcourt as Sam Cassell and Des Mason will have to fight with Michael Redd for court time.

Whilst in Seattle, Ray Allen joins a 2 guard logjam and Kevin Ollie suddenly becomes Seattle's starting PG.

Face value says that Milwaukee won the deal, however with Payton probably leaving at the end of the year, it might end up being a great deal for Seattle.

Obviously the Bucks want some cap space, but still, losing Allen isn't great.

Oh, and in another deal, Seattle send their only other PG Kenny Anderson to New Orleans in return for Elden Campbell.

Special K will be excellent for the Hornets, in the short term, but once Baron is back, he will again find himself in the same situation he was in in Seattle.

That's also in my thread :D

Geez, we had 2 points guard, one the most consistent of the last 10 years, and the other a former 18 and 8'er. Now we have one, and he would fit in in the NBDL.

I'm sure I will get over it, but really, does Ray Allen offer anything other than shooting?

Bucks win this deal hands down.
Cassell's gonna be ****ed off playing as a backup, he was having a whinge about only playing 33 mins the other night.
Michael Redd can now step in and play 35 mins with D.Mase playing behind him and Tim Thomas.
Not a bad trade in picking up Elden Campbell, gives them a big guy who can help out their problems inside a little.

Cassell should shortly be a Knick.

And

Sprewell a Buck.

According to 1070 WIBC Indianapolis, (Pacers radio network)

Pacers 60 - Nets 53 as we speak.

Go Pacers:)

I heard something about the Bucks and Knicks trying to get an extension on the trade deadline. Wouldn't mind having Alien in New York....Maybe Lee Nailon would finally get some minutes then.
Someone else would be included in the deal i think, Cassell and a backup.

Hmm. Odd move.

Seattle have no starting PG and dealt a young athletic star in Mason. Allen is a good pick up, but he by no means replaces what Payton offers - yet Allen has a longer future.

The Bucks on the other hand have an interesting dilemma in the back court. Payton, Cassell and Redd are all capable of starting, and if Redd of Cassell have to start on the bench, they will whine and ****moan. As for Payton - he must start.

Bucks win BIG TIME!!!!!! Payton and Mason for Allen and a couple of duds. Seattle have to search for a decent PG before trade deadline. With Mason gone Radmanovic will get a bit more time but PG is a HUGE worry for Sonics.

A lot of you are saying it is a big win for the Bucks but I disagree. Yes it's a big win for the Bucks IF Payton re-signs at the end of the season. If he bolts, you lose Ray Allen for nothing.

But if he does re-sign then yes the Bucks came away with a steal. Problems with the backcourt though....Payton, Cassell, Redd, Mason all looking for minutes. Mason may also steal minutes off the other Mason, Kukoc and Thomas. The Bucks have a major logjam and it wouldnt surprise me if they shop Cassell, Kukoc, D.Mason, A.Mason or Thomas at the end of the year to find a good bigman.

Providing Payton re-signs of course.

I agree, way to many small men and not enough bigmen.

They should of made the Payton trade knowing they could get a trade done involving Cassell.

Now they have to find a team willing to trade a bigman, LA Clippers comes to mind.

If Andre Miller goes to Utah, The Bucks could always send Cassell across to the Clips who could sign and trade Kandi. How Utah fits in, I don't know.
Just a random thought

On sportscenter George Karl says he'll start both Payton and Cassell and keep bringing in Redd off the bench.
I don't know how he's gonna start the frontcourt, possibly Thomas, A. Mason and Johnson or D. Mason, Thomas and A. Mason at centre.
Pretty weak on the glass and in the post other than Anthony Mason, but he'll be undersized againt most centres. Ervin Johnson is gonna have to stand up.

Starting Payton and Cassell will work IMO. On offence, Payton is the PG and Cassell the shooting guard, GP is the more natural PG and is more likely to pass than shoot and we all know Cassell likes to jack it up so he makes a good passing shooting guard.

On D, they just switch it. Cassell guards the PG and GP guards the SG. GP is 6'4 and an awesome defender so he should be able to tackle most SG's. Apart from freaks like T-Mac though...

The Bucks have lost 4 straight now and IMO are in desperate need of some inside help. Worse off now than Orlando.

I'm not sure about his ballhandling, but Brent Barry may take over running the pont, for the remainder of the season at least, he dished out 16 assists yesterday against Milwaukee. Might as well experiment with it, as we are pretty much out of the playoff race anyway.

Yeah, Barry got over a dozen assists yesterday - better than a lot of PG's in the league.

With Allen taking the SG spot - Barry needs to get his minutes somehow.

Barry was the secondary ball handler with Payton around, so going from that, to the PG spot, isn't a huge change for him.

His hands are excellent, and he's a good passer.
