Has anyone got any info regarding Peel?
We all know they have been crap since day one, well guess what? With Chris Waterman now at the helm they will still be crap. Probably crappier actually.
No not because of the coaching staff. There is a group of around 20-odd players all wanting to leave. Their board is full of nobody wanna-bees. Their players are decidely average. And they waited too long in appointing Waterman so he had zero time to get his player list in order.
If you have anything to add to this I'd be curious to hear, or did I hit the nail on the head?
Cheers, and surfsup!:thumbsu:

Football clubs dont become competetive in a few years of coming into a competition... although Peel hasnt had the success they would have liked, they are developing players to go on to the next level, I believe Waterman will struggle to get Peel near the finals, but he is as good as anyone else who could manage to bring some success to the club... he has strong contacts at both the WCE and FFC's, which have already been helping him out over the summer and will continue to throughout his time at the club.

They continue to lose quality players, ie Pat Travers, who want to be able to play in a winning team, losing youngsters to AFL clubs doesnt help either

http://www.peelthunder.com.au/events/2005_draft.php

Peel had 15 players from the club play for the state (U15, U16 & U18) in 2004, and 16 in 2005, and have had their fair share of AIS/AFL scholarship holders, not to mention Bower, Thornton and Riggio recently drafted and the likes of Daniel Wells and Farren Ray.

Back to Back Colts Premierships (2004-2005)
Reserves in the Grand Final (2005)

I can see the Colts and Reserves teams pushing for premierships in 2006, and this only means that these players will follow on into the League or AFL ranks

Of course its a slow progress, shouldnt you be supporting your local team, considering you live in Mandurah??

Peel's junior programme is producing very good players, they just have problems retaining them. If players want to leave for "successful teams", so be it, but I may question their G & D quota. It feels real good to be part of building a strong team.

Peel is on the right track and I understand they have very good corporate support.

Thanks for the well thought through reply, appreciated.
I know my post wasn't a positive one, but by highlighting the things I did I hoped to get a response. I DO support the club.
In time I think we will become a regular fixture in the finals.
This year our colts side will be making up a bigger part of the league side than it should be expected to. We'll be forced to play them due to the large proportion of players leaving. Some players were drafted to the AFL. Some players want to leave to be part of a team more capable of immediate success. Some players who seem to have a disturbing influence on the younger players are being asked to leave. And some players were actually driven out by Hocking last year and won't return.
Pat Travers was ok. He is a 'give-it-to-me' player, sometimes I think he was noticed more because of his blonde locks than his ability. In the long run he won't be missed, and really, anyone who doesn't want to be at the club won't have the same effect a player who wants to be there will. Let them go. Get the best trade possible, if you can't then don't clear them, make them sit out of football for a year or play your best for us. In the past we have given away players for bugger all.
I think they have got their coaching staff right. Waterman is in it for the long haul, unlike Hocking. The assistant coach Paul Pannel is young, cluey and very enthusiastic.
The make up of the club beyond the players and coaches is where Peel fall in a heap. The football manager(?) and most of the board members add nothing to the club. In my eyes they are the 'negative'. We need to get this right. Get rid of these people and get people in who can ADD to the club, not local wanna-bees.
Also, attracting ex-afl players like the Bandys, Toias and the like is difficult. Mostly, they prefer to live in the city, so we're needing to offer them more simply to get them down here. It's a hard task, especially when they come down and visit the club and see what it's like. Bandy for instance lives in Port Bouvard at the moment but still chose Claremont. You have to ask why??

Agree with this... especially due to the fact that on some evenings at training there are less than 40-50 senior squad players there... Barely enough for a league and reserves team and definately not enough players to put pressure on others for a spot in the team

Havent heard anything of this... but Hocking did give a group of the '05 colts a blasting for partying too hard last year, getting into too much trouble leaving a bad name on the club around town...

Is he acting as an assistant or the league runner...? Has been the colts runner in previous years but has incorporated this role with managing the forwards. Also good to see Waterman has got Colts Coach Trevor Williams in as an assistant’s role with the league... a great tactician, knows what he’s doing and is excellent with the colts players. But I believe Williams will leave the club at the end of this season to pursue a higher level coaching role, he will be a big loss, but has given a lot to the club over the past 5-6(?) years!!

Football Manager is now Steve Ashton and isn’t anything special at all, has been in role with the club in the past... The club sacked (didnt renew his contract) Martin Kelly as the Football Manager(plus Fitness Coach) when Buddha left as he brought Kelly over from the east

But I believe Phil Clohesy did a fantastic job and has been missed... Don’t know too much about the new CEO Cadell Buss...

but i spose you know much of what i have said

Having seen Ben Doolan play, the Thunder are sure to get their moneys worth. He's tough and Im sure he'll show the kids whats its about..

Leading by example.

Nope, it was league players.
One ex AFL listed player actually. But unless you want me to name names.....

Pannel is now an assistant coach (one of?)

What position does Graham Doy hold? I don't rate him as having much positive influence at the club.

Hes a director, and would have just signed a new two year deal in Dec '05

add to that Brandon Hill (add some of his mates) Hill doesn't seem to be too well liked by the younger guys at the club, and really that's where Peels success lies. He's not very enthusiastic or energetic and that's not a good example to display to the rest of the team.

2 more years of Graham 'Doom and Gloom' Doy. Not thought of too highly by others around the club.

May have been told by the club to go away for a year and change his attitude.
Will probably go to play with Boddington with some of his mates who are also leaving Peel.

I hope he presents himself in better knick than when he last played and coached Albury in the Ovens and Murray league in 2001.
He didn't exactly set the world on fire.

Where has Phil Clohesy gone? He was a great organiser and admin person.:)

Clohesy accepted a role as general manager of "The Cut Golf Course" at Port Bouvard

and his role at Peel Thunder was taken over by Cadell Buss late last season.

Is that a better job? He is a loss to football. Do you know if Mark Stone is still involved at WCE after the appointment of Darren Harris onto the staff there. Thanks for your help:)

A better job in salary terms, but yeah he is a loss to football especially Peel, as he was one of the leaders down there, trying hard to build the club on and off the field.

Perhaps ask on the WCE Board, they will be able to help you more than likely

Does anybody know where David Holland is playing - I heard he left Peel
