Hey guys. I went to Brisbane to watch the game. How good it was too, beating the Brisbane ferals over there.
Tell you what, they are a different breed. After every goal they chant "BRISBANE!" *CLAP CLAP CLAP* "BRISBANE!" *CLAP CLAP CLAP* Which is all well and good, until this part.
Some guy yells "GO LIONS!"
Then another yells "MEEEEOW!"
And everyone else goes "WOOOOOOOOH!" (Ric Flair style)
It's embarrassing.
Anyway, I was lucky enough to be on the same plane as the players and I noticed Pendles had his ankle strapped and he was limping pretty badly. Hope it's nothing serious. Anyone heard any goss?

yeah i saw him get a fair knock (im pretty sure it was pendles) and to my suprise he got straight up and played the rest of the game. wont be anything serious i shouldnt think. Its just that you dont notice knocks and stuff like that until the adrenal has stopped pumping and you have cooled down. i suspect 90% of players have similar problems week in week out.

Id have no issues resting him for the week and giving another young midfielder a go. Possibly a Stanley or a Davies.
Lets not forget, no matter how good he is, he is the same age as a Toovey, so we need to keep him fresh throughout the year. I actually do hope he gets the week off. I think CFC's game plan on Fri will be to suffocate the Dockers. They play on a big Subi ground, so our plan would be to play a hard tight match and not give them an inch.

We dont need a Pendles to play week in week out and just be completely flat come finals time. If he gets a rest, instead of playing after just 5 days, he gets another 10 days off before facing the Dees on Monday week after that Freo game. And then it'll be another long break if my memory serves me correctly with the spilt round?

Good point, it wouldnt be to big a loss to rest him (in the sence that we do need him playing but we dont want him to burn out)especially since he had glandular last year!

I'll play this week.

Just watched the replay again and apparently Penders got a knock which Dunstal said look like a cork. This happened around the 12min of the 1st quarter though they didn't actually show any vision of it. He ran the game just fine so you would expect him back.

IMO you don't rest players if they are fully fit. I understand people's concerns about burn out but he did actually complete the pre-season and the finals are still a long, long way off. Too early to count chickens and we need his class on field. :thumbsu:

as much as i'd hate to see it.. short term pain long term gain.

if he gets worn out this season and starts to develop chronic hamstring or soft tissue problems etc which tends to happen to alot of players that play too much when they're younger, i'll be heart broken.

On the other hand if we use him wisely and rest him occasionally, hopefully he'll be fit enough and strong enough to dominate for years to come.

We have a 10 day break followed by a 12 day break after this week. Im sure that is plenty of rest for Pendles, he just played his best game of the year. Keep playing him!!

or we can rest him and give him a 22 day break. let him play an easy going game for williamstown and dominate.

If we rest him, he wont play for Williamstown because that isn't a rest, thats being droped. If you ask me i would think Daisy looks like he needs a rest more than Pendles, just imho.

Thomas was quiet for the first 3/4's on sat nite, but turned it up in the last quarter playing in defence. he's a goer

playing for williamstown is a rest compared to the vigours of AFL.

I wouldn't rest him. As people have said he will still have to play and train so its barely a rest. I'd get him through this game and give him till Wednesday off to go home to Sale ala Daisy's break before Anzac Day last year.
