i read this paragraph on the demonology site, and it says everything that needed to be said, and is sooo true!

Looked at purely from a footballing perspective the fixture gives Melbourne every chance to redeem itself after this year’s disappointment. The Demons have three early games at their home ground (although two are “away” matches) against teams that finished in the top six - Hawthorn, Port Adelaide and Richmond. This will prove a litmus test for them because these are the very teams that need to be overcome if a challenge for a top four position can be sustained. The Demons will know exactly where they stand by the end of the first month and we can expect Neale Daniher to set his team up early for the challenge. After that Melbourne has a reasonable run through to the mid season when it strikes Essendon, Brisbane and Carlton – all teams that it plays only once in the home and away series - in consecutive weeks.
so if we expect to be any good, we're gonna need to be really good!
