Lately, I have had this included on my payslips but I don't know what it is - I asked the payroll officer and she said "Sick Leave" but I'm sure I don't have 160 hours of sick leave.

Is it LSL? Is it paid out if I quit?

Could be sick leave , 4 or 5 weeks wouldn't be too much SL .

It is leave you can access to look after a sick family member or similar.
Should be 5 days per year

My last place of employment I left with over 150 sick days accrued.Never got a cent or a thankyou,so people use your sickies.

It might even be a fancy name for annual leave (assuming that's not shown elsewhere on the payslip).

I have one client where their leave request forms call it "personal leave" although their payslips still refer to it as annual leave.

Pretty sure you're allowed to take up to three months personal leave (unpaid of course) for whatever reason before they can sack you.

So if you're sick for 3 months they don't have to pay you but they can't sack you either.

Maybe that's what it's referring to? The 160 hours sort of coincides with 3 months.

We have that in the PS , it's FACS leave , Family And Community Service , but it accrues at 5 days per 2 years. It would take a long time to build up 160 hours.

It's hard to say without knowing what you do, who you work for, what award or agreement you're under etc. There's not just one rule that applies to everyone.

When you say it's recently been included on your payslip, you mean it's just showing you a balance of how much "personal leave" you have owing?

Just to add another opinion to the mix, it could be your cumulative balance of sick leave, carers leave and bereavement leave - perhaps.

And very unlikely for this leave to be paid out on termination, though in some awards some sick leave may be paid on termination or at the conclusion of each year etc. Very rare though.
