Perth press bias

I ask you people - How biased is the press coverage of the Freo Dockers. Those guys really have it in for us!

This bias is not recent, it has been around since day 1. I just notice it more now that they are so smug and satisfied because we are struggling.

We cop the most from the "worst australian".
96fm morning show always has some smartarse comment to make (those guys are soooo fuuunnnny - NOT!).
Basil and the footy show cane the dockers at length.
Denis Comittee always has something -ve to say.
The Sunday Times puts the slipper at every half opportunity.

What gives? Why are these guys always on our case.

An example, the weagles copped a belting from essendon on the weekend (88pts). If you read the "worst australian" reports you'd think they were unlucky to lose a competitive game. The dockers lose by less than two goals and they show photos of two dockers colliding followed by the usual bagging by all the columnists.

Is this just me, or have you guys noticed the same thing?

It has been a problem from day one. It has always amazed me how channel 7 carries on about the eagles. Theres a lot more eagles stories in their news, Judgy is on a monday Drum is relegated to a Tuesday, when ever its Freo V Eagles the eagles get mentioned first even if its our home game.

I've never noticed how bad the West is but then I never read the Eagles stories. THe Sunday Times is nothing more than Trash.

Hardie has nothing better to do than constantly slag off freo.

I actually listen the 6WF quite a bit because at least Glen Mitchell is fair.

I thought a few years ago that when the Eagles were travelling bad Freo would get a fair go but it dosen't seem that way. Judge should be under as much pressure as Drum but he gets off Scot Free.

Part of the problem is that there are to many old eagles players in the media who wont kick their own team but take great pleasure in kicking ours.

It's exactly the same in Adelaide - the Cows get fawned over, win lose or draw and Port news is tacked on to the end of articles about the Cows.

Their excuse? Cows have got 80% of the supporters in SA, so they are catering to their audience/readership.

Hopefully you Dockers will beat their darlings on the weekend and we'll see what they write about that. Then Port will return the favour on Sunday

yep i am gonna have to agree on this one
the media do nothing to help the players comfidence
i have bagged the players sometimes but only cause they frustrate me but i still luv them
sure we may not have won yet but at least our loses arnt by nearly 100 points (a bit of an exhadruation and my spelling sux)
but yeah i wa s thinking sunday after the eagles loss to essendon we would get a break but no they just make their reports sympathise with wce just because they only had 16 fit players but i mean hello we lost 2 of our best midfield a great forward a great half forward and we don't hear n e thing about those
well clive will be back kickett will be back and i recon some younger players will be brought into the squad

I thought the Dockers were going to romp in against the Dees on Sat. night, but lack of confidence come to the fore....everything seems to go wrong all together...I know, the Dees have been thru the same things tons of time.

As for the press, I sympathise with you, because both my teams Demons and Storm get very little press in Melbourne, perhaps more so the Storm (being rugby league in an afl town).
The media are definately bias toward Essen. Carlton Coll and Richmond etc. and give little coverage to Geelong Melb. St.Kilda etc.
