Peter Walsh

I notice Peter Walsh has been named in the Power squad this week. Every time I see this guy play, whether it is for the Bloods or Port Power he impresses me with his work rate , courage and skill. I know he is is 30 but surely his experience ( 130+ games) and example would have been invaluable over the past few weeks. Am I missing something in his game, or is it simply age? I would have thought he still had something to over for at least another year or two.

He's an attacking back-flanker, which is basically the most replaceable role in the AFL. I don't think we've missed anything by not playing him.

Basically I'd say the reason he isn't playing is because of this rebuild we sometimes seem to be doing, but only in certain positions.

I would have thought that since we are "re-building" he would have been one of the unlucky oldies to miss out, but now with Bishop returning...

He is very very unlucky in IMO.

Was close to BOG for West Adelaide. I think his experience would have been invaluable against the Kangaroos.

Absolutely agree. He should be played before Dew, Thurstans and Bishop.

If we are running out the ol' "Youth policy" line, why was Bishop brought back in...
If Bishop was brought in for experience, then Walsh has better form and should've been included first...

I think that, rightly or wrongly, Choco et al have decided that only 1 of Wilson and Walsh can be in the same side.

Choco should be dealing with the present--by the time some of the young players mature there'll be others to replace eg wakelin, bishop etc -- he'll never catch up
Choco took ages to recognise talent eg roger james -- and now he's playing anyone(though anyone can play his gameplan) eg lonie, dew
Also cornseys strength is his high marking in packs-- so why's he running around taking unopposed marks

actually i'm a port magpies supporter--will follow the power when they play like the magpies used to--not enough port players in the team-- too many coaches with a glenelg background--what could they contribute instead of how to lose nicely
