I may be an Eagles supporter and the petition may make reference to Eagle supporters but it also does concern you guys. Please sign the petition for a bigger stadium in Perth and send a strong message. Let's put our differences aside as the issue concerns both of us.

Is bigger really better?

In this case, yes. If one of the clubs has an 18 month waiting list for season ticket memberships, getting sellouts every home game in a 43,000 stadium where there are many more that want to go to the games, why not?

If the Dockers are as successful as the eagles are now we would be in a similar boat. And with the city's population increasing, it will also be important.

I actually disagree some what. Atmosphere is a big thing. I remember being a young lad from NSW, when Wollongong played basketball at the Snake Pit, It was said to be one of the best atmospheres of all sporting places in Australia, but barely fit anyone in the crowd. Then they relocated to a "bigger and better" venue and it just was never the same again.

So while you can cram more people into a sporting complex, why exactly would it be better? For the dockers games, how many games have been sell outs again (excluding derbies)?

I don't think WA needs it 'yet'!

It's about needs. For the Eagles it will be required. Sellouts and large waiting lists for season tickets are the norem of the club over the last few years and have been throughout much of their history. So I think that more seating at Subi would be needed. Its about giving disadvantaged and passionate people better opportunity to go to the games.

I will point out if the Dockers are in the same position as the eagles (which we never have been in) on field wise they will have similar problems.

Gallop is a huge Eagles fan (correct me if I am wrong) and I think the state government has done the right thing in developing the states sporting grounds by taking care of Rugby and Soccer to bring them up to "standard" at this stage. AFL just doesn't need the funding "yet". It's as simple as that. Later down the track yes, and I can see where you are coming from but prioritising is the key.
