He may not have had that possessions of ablett, the influence of Judd, or the head ducking of selwood, J, but before, during and after the game was there to be won, pets busted his a**e. I saw three or four occasions I'm ashamed to say I've become used to our players give up or not try at all where pets gave himself a hernia trying to make or affect the contest. For me, he was our best and looked as though he was being a leader when none were apparent.

Well done!

Pets was fantastic. Loved his game. It's a disgrace that a kid is one of the only ones actually putting in an effort - and the only others doing so are kids as well.

Absolutely. Geez if I were at selection... The only tough decisions were which non kids to play. Bring on the return of otten, sloane Martin etc... Bring in smack, Craig, hendo... All of a sudden the future looks bright. Mcleod can play
until 2027 if he keeps playing well enough.

A couple of decent draft picks, premiership material but the tough decisions need to be made.

Happy enough with Petrenko I guess.

His last two weeks have been better but his spot must have been in question before that.

To me he has proven that he could in time be a good small defender or a handy player in our midfield rotation. The only thing I don't think he is capable of is being a small forward. That is certainly the role he is least suited to at AFL level.

No offence to the roos but they more or less lived off heart and shinboner spirit for quite a while. I'll take pets with heart than a houlihan type anyday. Clutching at straws I guess

I was pretty impressed in his performance tonight. I have not been a huge fan of Petrenko in the past but he showed quality in a side clearly lacking quality.

As mentioned he showed some strong leadership when all else was lacking, good signs for the future!

As frustrating as tonights game was, we have to look at the goods signs for the future. Walker, Petrenko, Davis, Tippet, Cook, and Danger when he fires for a full game are what we have to look forward to over the next few years. We just have to be patient and wait until these guys are ready as hard as it may be. These games are invaluable, even though we are losing and it's hurting badly.

Thought Petrenko took a huge step forward tonight

His effort for 4 qtrs was the most consistent we've seen of him ..........his attack on the ball exactly what Craig was looking for and what we were generally missing all season

His kicking which generally has a lot of hang time .....bad for forwards did get better and that kick to Walker was great ......much less hang time and fast thru the air

When the game was gone .....Craig experimented .....putting Petrenko in the midfield

That was the revelation from tonight as Petrenko was really able to show something in the midfield.

Each time he came off for a rest he was absolutely gone ......and not many players could say that tonight

He has a very positive attitude about his footy.

Watched him play a bit of Cricket at Port Adelaide, he was always one of the guy trying to push the other for a win, which rarely happend.

Got to talk to him this year and asked what happened last year. Most people thinking he would step up after the preseason game up North. He said he took it too easy, and reckons the step from junior star (without having to try) and playing AFL (and senior SANFL) was a step up he was not ready for it mentally.

He said it was something he was working on this year and good to see it happening.

Fast becoming one of my favourite Crows (Jcock still no.1) he plays with a heart and gives it a crack. Not afraid to work or get hurt for his team.

He's a much better player when running toward goal instead of leading away from it. Needs to play more HBF and midfield. When all 3 of Jaensch, Armstrong and Petrenko were behind the ball we looked better.

As much as he works hard and is ferocious at the ball, people forget that he actually has some ability as well. His pace and ability to break the lines are something we could use a lot more in this team.

Don't want to see him in the forward line for a while. Chuck him in the midfield or down back - why did it take eight weeks for Craig to see that he simply isn't a natural forward?

That's the kind of thing you want to hear, and it backs up the way he goes about it.

I thought petrenko was ok, I thought dougie was better.

I thought Petrenko, given his experience and how he is generally used, as well as the non-competitive efforts of a lot of his established team-mates, was fantastic.

I'd easily have him in our best.

Douglas has been a shining light for us since about round 3, at the moment, he is one of the few positives I'm taking out of this year, he's looking like he could develop into the very good mid-fielder that he was expected to be.

He attacks the contest, he runs, he's creative, he's willing to lift his eyes and kick the ball into the forwardline, and, even though it didn't work out last night, he's willing to take responsibility and kick for goal, instead of looking for somebody else to do it.

One of the few established players to consistently stand up when we've been down, he's got to be earning a lot of respect as a result.

I don't think any of us are that thrilled with the possibility of him as a small-forward, I think he's shown he can pinch-hit up there with reasonable success, but his efforts as a back or mid can't leave anybody in doubt as to where he should be playing.

That was probably Pets best game for us. I'd like to see him spend a little more time in the midfield.

Wow, Douglas might have played the most overrated game in the history of football judging by the amount of ridiculous praise he's receiving.

He was okay at best. Petrenko meanwhile was our best, quite comfortably.

When we played crap for the first 3 qtrs .....it was only Mcloud, Petrenko and Douglas who IMO could hold their heads up as giving 100% and playing confident footy

Douglas's improvement IMO can be directly attributed to much better fitness .....which has lead to improved 2nd efforts ......which has resulted in increased confidence

Douglas by his own admission is a confidence player

douglas' performance is a more polarising issue than abortion and stem cell research combined.

but... i am pretty emotionally benign regarding both players.

i thought had douglas FINISHED WELL, he would've been eeeasily our best.
but considering he had some sloppy shots on goal, he just scraped in ahead of petrenko. petrenko's passion, attack and perseverance probably contributed more to our overall drive as a team though. they both needed to get their hands on it a bit more, but considering our possession skew, they were far better than our top 5 holders.

i think last night is hard in ranking players, because the players that did well didn't get enough of it (walker) and the players that got a lot of it were terrible users (bock/goodwin)

bock hasn't kicked forward since the late 1960's.

CHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICKS

Would like to see how he would go as a midfielder but ultimately I think he has the pace, elusiveness and competitiveness to be our version of Jarrod Harbrow.
