for those who believe that pettifer is not a leader - and does not play for his teammates - take note of this on the article about Polak by Miller on the richmond site

"I've just been there more as assistance to the family, just to make sure they had things that they needed from the club and what the club could do to help.

"Everyone together behind the scenes, Kayne Pettifer and Chris Newman, we've tried to limit the players' involvement because it's just too much. But (Pettifer and Newman) have been by his side as well.

"It's been uplifting to see his progress."

Miller added that young Tiger Cleve Hughes, who was with Polak and teammate Jordan McMahon when the accident occurred, would also be making a visit.

i stand by all my comments that this bloke needs to stay at our club - he gels these players together off-field -

He might be a great bloke in real life, and have balls so far as dealing with real-life issues go... and, to be fair, as a life issue, that is far more important than being a leader onfield at a footy club.

But any number of blokes may have off-field character. What is he showing onfield?

Football is a tough business Astro .... I`m sure Heath Black and Stephan Dodd thought the same way about Polly before he was traded...

The fact is when things like this happen football takes a back seat in a major way and the players welfare is of the utmost importance ... don`t let that clowd your judgement about a blokes on-field worth to a footy team ...

Best if we dont use the unfortunate accident to Graham to justify any football matters.

Cant wait to see the boy up and running soon.

As if a player can dictate where and when he plays you idiot. He pulled out of the senior game injured. That is coming from one of his teamates.

This is the same mentality that made us overlook Buddy Franklin in the 04 draft. It was said his attitude was appalling and we took a much more rounded young man in Tambling.

This 'nice bloke' mentality has got us no-where in the past. Time to cut the guys who aren't capapble of procuding the goods on field and start recruiting players who can actually play. Who gives a f**k how nice of a bloke they are... niceness never won any flags.

I've always supported Pettifer (whether people like it or not he's a natural goalkicker, 2nd behind Richo for most goals over the last 3 years with 100+ and we know the ball has hardly been up there. And when it has, the delivery hasn't exactly been Darren Jarman like).
Anyway with Morton undoubtedly taking over his role, do you think he'll stay.
I reckon clubs would be interested in him considering he's ability in front of goals. He'd add depth and be a very handy goalsneak in a decent forward line like Haw or Syd.
He just needs to add chasing and tackling to his game.
Remember Rodan was running around our Two's on one leg his past few years at Richmond and then kicked 28 goals in his first year at the Power.
Thoughts? (and be constructive about it.)

Sorry astro but I disagree. Emotion and good hearts alone will not carry us to a premiership. Petts is on borrowed time purely due to the fact that he is not contributing to team success and will not improve playing wise any more.

Agree Mitch, Pettiffer's real weaknesses are a lack of defensive pressure and hardness in the contest, it may be too late for him but if he can lift those things then there is no reason for TW to trade him a forward line of CH,JR,MM NB and petts could work, he's kicked plenty of goals for a smallforward in the last threee years.
Will be told by the coaching staff that he needs to lift those aspects of his game or he will be traded, someone will grab him.
