Who would u have preferred to pick up?
With honestly no bias opinions, I was happy we took Pfeiffer when we could have gotten Collard.
Here are some comparisons to why I am happy we took him.

  • Pfeiffer was #17 (2005) Collard (2006) was pick 31.
  • Pfeiffer was on the Crows list for 3 years compared to Collards one.
  • Pfeiffer was de-listed because of his shocking run with injuries and Adelaide could not retain him because of that. He was also de-listed because of his off field drinking issues but I'm sure with a fresh start he can overcome that (He agreed as well over SEN). Collard was de-listed because he could not get a game and had a poor attitude.
  • Pfeiffer is a HBF running type (Similar to Scotland) Collard is a small forward. (We already have Eddie and now young Ellard)
  • Pfeiffer is a cooler name :)

Just reading his Bio I'm quite happy with Pfieffer.

Didn't know much about him, but it now basically gives us 3 first round picks and 4 inside the top 20 from 2005.

Sounds like Scotland but with a defensive side (replacement for Lappin?).
Slight concerns over his and Hadley's injuries and whether they can get their pace up to speed, and if we shot everyone that liked a drink then Fev and Scotty would be in trouble.

Can't wait to get a look at these boys at training and NAB cup.

Just about anyone would have been better than Collard. He may be talented, but he comes with a huge amount of baggage, and some serious issues to boot.

Bit of false reality there mate. No doubt Collard has a few issues but his talent is unquestioned, could be anything football wise. As with alot of indigenous footballers it can take that bit longer to make the grade.

To write him off is a bit naive, I am sure if the Tiges went with Pfeiffer (who also has some serious off field issues and injury concerns) you would be talking Collard up.

Typical context shown.

HBF has been against drafting Collard from day one.

You would be talking up Pfeiffer if you had drafted him.

Good to see Richmond have high standards and drafted a player who was cut after one year.

Collard is basically a straight out replacement for another tool in Krakouer.

Pfeiffer was only at Adelaide for two years wasn't he? he was picked up in the same draft as Marc Murphy.

Correct...taken at pick #17 by Adelaide in the Murphy draft.

WH seems to have had a plan to recruit some tough, hard at it players who put their head over the ball and don't take short steps...Pfeiffer ticks those boxes as well.......Kreuzer, Browne, Armfield, Pfieffer, Judd, Hadley, none of them will die wondering :thumbsu:

They put a bit of backbone into the squad...

Next year is going to very interesting now... and a less and great season could see the end of some of our other good players...

Pfeiffer will have a huge season smokey for nab rising star thingy

Are you including JK in this?
Yeah I was initially........then I thought "hey, we lost JK so its back to 3..........but we picked up Judd so that means........"

.........then my brain started to hurt so I drank some wine and forgot about it.:thumbsu:

As TG said, I have been against Collard basically since he was delisted. I was curious why he had been delisted by Fremantle, and after some inquiries, I found out why. I obviously can't say what they are on a public forum, but he most certainly does have some social issues to deal with.

As with Pfieffer, he also has some issues to overcome as well. If you read some of the comments about him by Hey Shorty, who claims to know Darren, he said that the comments about him were blown out of all proportion. How many 18-19 year olds get out on the grog every once in a while. Not that alarming I wouldn't have thought.

Sorry, but that's false. He was until the end of April because he had a broken cheek bone from a punch up. The club ruled he was innocent, but who really knows. And then he was out for a few weeks in June because of illness. Other than that, he's only suffered a couple minor strains. Injuries weren't his problem. It was all attitude. He was racking up BOGs for Norwood throughout the latter half of the year but still didn't get a shot. The club knew they weren't going to keep him.

Having said that, he is a gun and an absolute steal if he turns his act around, which I think is quite likely considering he is still very young, taken out of his previous environment and now aware that AFL is a privilege.

Keeping us honest again?:o

Great trade period.........we got Judd........you got McMahon:o
You finish last.........we get the number 1 pick..........:D

Thanks for Cotchin? Only just started running hasn't he.
Who knows if he'll get that pace back after breaking his foot........and all those schoolboy games last year sould prepare him well for being your number 1 midfielder (now that Deledio has hidden up forward).

How about this for consolation (or was the wine your consolation?)

We now have 2 first round and 3 top 20 picks from the 2005 draft.

& we also have 2 first round and 3 top 20 picks from the 2006 super draft! :)
