KnockOut needs to explain him/herself.
Gladly. As many would gladly admit this isn't about the teams as such, much more about the popularity vote which DC had no chance with.

The backline is solid without being fantastic in the KPP stocks (neither is DIGS with Fletcher being the only stand out) but one thing DC has on his side is youth, and with that the two best young rebounding defenders in the game in Heater and Drummond. It also doesn't hurt when you got a brick-wall by the name of Max Rooke running around.

DC's centre-line runs rings around DIG's with class in Lappin, Pendles, Birchall and Dalsanto and a bloke called Priddis dishing it out to them. I'd call the rucks even with both Ottens and Lade very good ruckman, although Brad did have the wood over Lade in the Grand Final.

DIG with Brown and Tarrant playing talls with Hird, Hooper and Davey crumbing makes for a tough forward line to beat. That's one to DIG.

All in all TEAM DC has a very solid well balanced team which i believe would have the results in their favor weather the match was next week or in 5 years time. Stocked up with quality youth which counts for something. On a side note how in gods name is Fletcher going to stop the delivery from blokes by the name of DalSanto, Back Peddlebury and Lappin.

Who is going to back Lade up when Ottnes and Cloke run his legs off.......remember.........Kosi more than likely to be off injured.......and if you put him in the ruck, who is going to kick goals for them?

Looks like i'm in the minority here lol, but I went DC because his midfield is the sh1t!

Pendles, Priddis, Birchil, Lappin, Dal Santo awesome core.

His backline is severely underrated.
Digs backline probably wins out though.

Digs forwards probably also in front, but lose marks for being very injury prone (very much doubt you would get that forward line on the park 5+ games a season)

So i feel that DC's mid's would be slightly too much to contend with. Great group of youth, wont win this match up in voting, but will cerainly be an all star team given a few seasons ( - peverill)

more than likely to be off injured
Reading directly out of team DIG's handbook there BB. Hird, Brown and Cloke are very injury prone. Just wondering, in this Phantom game simulation is this a game to be played over 2007, over the respective players careers, based on career best form or based on potential? With DCs team players like Rusling, Newton and Westhoff are all capable of doing the unpredictible goals wise if Kosi is needed to Ruck or out on the sidelines.

Based on recent form IMO.
I.e. Based on 2007 form.

I was just having a dig at you, because at the time you were the only person who voted for DC.

Just having some fun. You actually make a pretty good case for the midfield. Its the KPP's that had Dig ahead for me, and DC's lack of backup ruckman without robbing his forward line..........but then again I thought the sam erationale wouldd see him lose to both myself in the quarter final and BG in the semi, so what do I know?

Interesting though now the poll is public the vote count is WAY down and DC is struggling.

Yeah, wonder why!

Based on 2007 form.
Based on 2007 form you would have to pick DC. Dig has very few 2007 match-winners let alone consistent preformers. DC boasts alot of the well-performing young guns of 2007 which includes Westhoff, Back-Peddlery, Priddis, Pettard and Goldsack as well as Lappin, Kosi, Lade, Drummond and Shaw.

Like alot of the prostitutes of today, it's just more embarrassing to support Richmond.

That's fine, but come the second half, when Lade is tired of chasing Ottens around the ground, who will relieve him? Kosi?

Fine, then can you really see Westhoff, Rusling and Newton and co kicking goals in that time against Fletcher, Archer and Thornton?

Not many.

Who will stop J. Brown let alone J Hird once the inevitable ascendency in the ruck is achieved?

Team DIG on team, not on personalities.

The comments re - Tioges would be relevant if the vote count for this game was the same is the two finals DC "won"......but both had excessive votes compared to other rounds, and after a slow start DC suddenly blew away his opponents.

I made a comment that now we can see who votes for what the poll seems to be following a more predictable pattern.

When Kosi & Lade run Brad to the ground and Cloke to a further injury who will step up and lend a hand? Archer?

I'm sure the brilliance of DC as coach would be smart enough to leave Westhoff and Fletcher in the square as Rusling runs rings around the much slower Archer and while Newton is young he is full of unpredictability and can quite easily kick a bag on Thorton with the right amount of space.

Who will stop J. Brown let alone J Hird once the inevitable ascendency in the ruck is achieved?
Well when the aging and inconsistent midfield of DIG manages to grasp the ball from DC (which will be very rarely may I add) the pressure on the ball carrier will be far too great to find a target and as Merret, Goldsack, Rooke, Patful fight to keep it away from goals Drummond and Shaw will have no trouble finding targets up the ground.

both had excessive votes compared to other rounds, and after a slow start DC suddenly blew away his opponents.
That's fair enough then, then again I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation like DIG calling hits on all DC fans.

So is Kosi playing FF or ruck?

Or are there two of him?

Are you just hoping to get lots of goals out of your midfield with your FF playing ruck all day?

For the purpose of this drill I'd say its DC's midfield but any who are modern day players confined to one position these days. Kosi will play the majority of his time FF and pinch-hit in the Ruck as is his role within the saints (back to the days when they had a ruckman, let alone a descent one).

Bizarre. DC had hoards of voters throughout the comp but just two when it mattered.

I don't care what anyone says, there's no way I would've beaten BlueGal's lineup. No, no, I can hear all you fans shouting me down but hear me out, she had the balance everywhere and a stronger midfield than mine. Hers and probably MM3's who i snuck past in the first round were the 2 best drafted sides IMO, with several others (including mine) just behind.

So how the hell DC defeated her in the closed poll will remain a suspicious mystery. In 5 years will be a good side, but was one of the weaker sides in this game. 40 odd votes one game, 2 the next...

But hey, you won't see me cutting up my giant novelty winners cheque anytime soon!

To self-indulge now and pay credit to my heroes, the defence really set it up with Fletcher and Archer leading the way plus the appealling rebound of Bowden and Gilbee.

The forward line was crucial - Brown, Tarrant and Hird causing nightmares with the lightning crumming of Davey and Hooper at their feet.

Ottens was awesome in the AFL granny which helped his stocks here in the ruck.

Midfield was the weaker link but held it's own. SBurgoyne is one of the best in the league while Bell, Bruce and McDonald are experienced leaders.

Great job running the draft J - we got there eventually, and to Papa Bluebear for running the (controversial!!) tournament.

And finally to you 20 members who voted for DIG - the cheque's in the mail as negotiated.

Until the next draft or supercoach league boys and girls............

Agree DIG. I thought my team would have given BG a run, but suspect she would have got up, and won the GF.

DC made a point through the draft of being as painful as possible, logging off time and time again just before his pick and taking the full time to take it.

The mystery will continue around the votes in the quarter and semi final, but there is one way (other than public polls) to ensure the integrity of the comp next time.;)
