We have a lot of skilled players coming through.

Best so far has been Coff
Phillips was so calm on Saturday night.

The most encouraging thing that hasnt been talked about was Clark. Some of his disposal was visionary and he is getting the feel and pace of AFL. Go out on a limb and say he could be a Sam Mitchell type, not quick but decisive and maybe a bit more penetrating.
Then we have the likes of Long, Gres and yes Jack Billings all skillful young players yet to hit their straps.

Yeah the full rebuild talk of some people is a bit over the top...Coff, White, Long, Phillips, Clark, Gresh/Billings, Battle kicking goals below, Rice, Freeman finally healthy (touch wood), Paton on the fringe of selection too.

We've got some good young players, going to add to that in the draft too.

Well I posted that before the pies game started.

The thing I liked about Phillips was his composure - he clearly has a good sense of awareness of the space around him.

A number of times he got the ball looked for an option didn't see anything he liked, then still managed to choose another safe option that didn't end up in turning the ball over. Other times he would gather the ball under pressure and know straight a way where his teammates were around him.

Couple that with an elite stamina level and he looks a real keeper. Nothing outstanding but you get the feeling he could run up and down the wing all day long.

Seems very much like a Gaff type player, although clearly likes to tackle more.

Covers plenty of ground, knows where to go to get the footy, neat skills but not overly damaging.

Fingers crossed he ends up as good.

I for one thought we would make the 8 this year with the talent we have ,
however with Roberton going down with Bruce hurt our set up along with form with a lot of our kids like Billings , Steele , Sinclair , Dunstan , Gresham.

Looking at it , it has allowed Hunter , Long , Coffield , White , Marshall and Phillips to get a look in which will only be good for us in the future , plus with Freeman , Paton , Battle and Austin still to be given a run it might of been the season we had to have.

Billings , Gresham , Hunter , Coffield , Acres , Sinclair are class players with 2 tough nuts in Steele and Dunstan we are in good shape and looking at Long he could develop into a Cyril type for us.

So its not all doom and gloom - but I still want a Kelly or Wines type to be picked up in some sort of trade to help bring the kids on next year.

Who knows whether he will or not, but it's unbelievable that in 120 years of history no-one wearing 30 has played more than 56 games for us.

Great stats there bergholt..........No-30 certainly doesn't have any longevity about it.

Freo and Rice. Not together but the next couple of weeks. Slowly does it. Some of these guys will either need a rest or get dropped but that doesn't matter.

I'm officially in the Ed Philips band wagon. Neat, composed, athletic, right size. Modern footballer. That's a tick for Trout.

Ed was very impressive...composed.....good disposal.......hits targets....how refreshing is that.

How was the mark he took in the 3rd near the wing....what a cracker!

As DarkSaint said above.....there's no way you would have picked him as a debutant.
