Photo slideshow

I have my engagement party coming up and we're looking at doing a slideshow type thing for photos, projecting them onto a big screen using my laptop and a projector.

I'm aware that Powerpoint can do this but I figure something else can probably do it easier. I also don't have Powerpoint installed on this laptop. Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing and know what would be the best program to use?

I want it just to randomly display one of 300 or so photos for 15 seconds, then randomly choose another etc.

windows movie maker does the job, not random though, added bonus of being able to set it to music.

Alternatively troll through the freeware sites, I imagine there'd be many solutions available.
