we scored the 5th highest total points out of any team this year
So our forward line isnt doing so bad

Our backline wasnt as good on the stats as what as people were saying but thats not the problem that needs to be fixed at the moment.

i dont think Terry will get a KPP forward because:

1. He loves midfielders
2. Jacky/Cleve/Morton/Gourdis
3. We have pick 26
4. Richo if a little stiff, might go back to FF

I personally think we need to get one of Ziebell/Hartlett/Sidebottom

what are peoples thoughts, do we need a KPP forward now that badly

I'd love a KPP forward @8, but really only Mckernan & Trengove present as possibles, and neither strikes me as worth pick 8 purely as KP's ( Johnston is only an outside chance, although I'd rate him higher ).

Going for what you need/want is good, but no sense getting too carried away with it.

@ point 2 ...I'd only be banking on Jack & Morton and I still have niggling doubts about Morton and need to see Jack back up things next year and improve even more.

@ point 4 ... that's hardly a long term solution and I'd hate to think our brains trust would be relying on that logic to justify overlooking a KP forward.

Schoenmakers from SA is a beautiful mover, lovely skills and just measured in at 193cm when everyone thought he was 189. I'm still torn between Trengove and a mid at 8, but if Schoey's there at 26 I'd be all over him. Real class.
And Mario, how can you have doubts over Morton? He's not a key forward but 35 goals in 17 games from a 21y/o in his first year at the club with just 12 previous games was a sensational first year. He's all class too and will only get better.

I don't doubt his ability...it's his work ethic and tendency to go MIA for long periods during a match....can try to be too cute at times as well like Brown...needs to work on his set shot kicking too..runs too close to the mark.... I still think he should go with his instincts more often then not and play on though, because he's a natural and instinctive footballer and that's what they need to do 9 times out of 10...either way he's only one potential piece of our forward puzzle , and given his history , I need to see more than one good year to be fully convinced...

he is a steve johnson clone !! wait in 2 more seasons when he starts to work as hard as stevie j does .. mortan will be a freak ... fantastic footballer .. the best of the 3 brothers easily

we need him to work his ass of next year. so drop him after 2 bad games in row. that will get him to play better and work harder.

Why is Johnston an outside chance? He seems to be the best key position forward available apart from Watts and he is underage. If that's truly what we need why wouldn't we consider him? Or am i missing something?

Having said that I think another a grade mid should be more of a priority unless we could get our hands on Watts. Obviously not going to happen.

A future forward line of JR, Hughes, Morton, perhaps Putt, Gourdis, with a resting Deledio wouldn't be such a bad thing. If there is plenty of quality ball coming in those guys should be able to do some damage. Pick 26 could net us a Nick Heyne who along with Morton would be a great mid size forward combo. Or a Schoenmakers etc. All we need is Maurice Rioli to find a son somewhere and Collard to get his head right.
