Anyone know why we didn't move heaven and earth to try and get him? Our blokes deadset shat themselves everytime both him and the ball were within 10m of each other. He's singlehandedly turned Melbourne from a bunch of pussies into a hard at the ball team. We, however, remain a bunch of schoolkids looking over our shoulders for the schoolyard bully.

Have to agree. I went to game today and remarked to my better half no one semed to want to man up on him. In saying that i don't think they would be scared of him, surely not after watching you guys beat us last week it was like night and day the different intensity level.

This may upset some people but i think Crowley has had this coming,

Crowley acts all tough and pushed and shoves away from the ball but when the ball is there to be won he lacks hardness and intensity. Give me McManus or Cook over Crowley any day.

Hardness at the ball > Pushing and shoving behind play.

I think Crowley has had this coming for a while. Lets hope if he does return to the Freo outfit he will concentrate at the ball.

I kind of agree with your sentiments on Crowley docker_johnno. Unfortunately Pickett cleaned him up while Crowley was watching the ball, rather than concentrating on the guy coming in from the side. Its hard to see how the experience will encourage Crowley to focus on the ball more.

I'm not saying that Pickett did anything wrong either, though its hard to know how a fair hip and shoulder on an upright player could have broken his cheekbone, unless he injured it when he hit the ground.

A reasonable suspension for the dog Pickett would be the whole time Crowley is not available.

Crowley might have a bit of niggle about about him but I don't remember him ever doing a gutless dog act that Pickett does.

Good hard football. Should be applauded because thats how football is supposed to be played. Just because someone gets a few broken bones, doesnt mean it wasnt in the rules and spirit of the game.

Good hard football doesn't include being a sniper and that's exactly what Pickett is. That's what he's always been even before he started playing AFL, another thing about Pickett, have you ever seen him target one of the brothers?
I can just imagine your reaction if it was a Collingwood player he'd taken out.

Bullocks! Just hard at the ball. Fair bump.

Didnt know he had any brothers playing.

If he did take a Collingwood player out and it eas a fair bump, wouldnt get any complaints from me. Part of the game.

.

Verrrrry interesting point.

FWIW - I thought the bump looked okay. Maybe a split second late, and in slo-mo replay it looked as though his shoulder may have connected with Crowley's cheek... but what made it look worse was that Crowley was looking at the player with the ball and so wasn't expecting it.

We'd love Byron if he played for us.

I don't have a problem with the bump by Pickett, would be a real shame if the hip and shoulder was outlawed in our game! Pity that Crowley didn't see it coming however and hopefully he recovers real quick!

Crowley should have seen it coming...poor vision.....2 fractures in cheekbone though...ouch!!

Pickett shouldn't get suspended....bet hey, Medders got a week for similar & so did Cookie at beginning of last year.

IMO, this seems pretty typical Pickett hit; well timed, destructive, and just within the rules of the game. I also think Pickett is one of the few players in the AFL consciously looking to pick off opponents.

Pickett should get off this week, but we all know the AFL are gunning for him. If/when he steps outside the rules they will hammer him with some unusually harsh penalty.

Would I like him at freo? Only if we could keep his head straight. But then if North and Port couldn’t keep him focused I wouldn’t fancy our chances.
