If Bryan goals in Q3 instead of smother by Corey, we more than likely win the game and the flag. We had all the momentum...

So close

What about Clements So Called Out of Bounds on the Full at the end of the 3rd QTR:rolleyes:

I was there that night and on the way back to the car through my mobile into the yarra when my geelong mate tried to call. ah memories.

Gotta hammer them this week with the same tackling pressure they don't like it.

That was deliberate oob, I'll never forget it. Very bad brain fade by Clement, uncharacteristic obviously.
It was so tight that probably cost us the game.

Disagree mate, I reckon he was trying to rush a point. But if you miss, then they pay deliberate OOB, which is probably ruthless but fair.

So Clement made a gut call to rush it, missed and it was the execution rather than the brain fade which was the issue.

Mooney's goal I felt was a bit like Voss in 2002 GF just before 3QT. In both games we deserved to be ahead going into the last break, but we in the end had to come from behind (again) which in both matches was a bridge too far.

It is interesting though looking at TD's stats and seeing low stats for Pendles (who was only 19) and Thomas (just turned 20).

Marty Clarke's game - considering he was just 19 years old - was amazing and led to us making all sorts of "Jim Stynes" outlandish statements like he can win the Brownlow. Unfortunately for us, he chose family over his career in AFL. He could have been anything.

(Who knows, if he returns next year, he could still be something)

What happened to Marty Clark?

Would Clement have played in the 2010 flag if he didn't retire prematurely?

I still think he would have was only 28 when retired

Could have been an amazing 3rd or 4th backman

We were totally monstered in the ruck. Geelongs midfielders had first use more than 80% of the time and that estimate is being conservative. Fraser in and we win.

Whats also interesting is the turnover of players between the two sides. From the Pies side, 12 players are no longer on our list, whereas only 4 have moved on from the Geelong side (7 if you include fringe players such as Mooney, Brynes and Milburn).

I remember that game for the emotion felt after it. I was disappointed that we had lost it, but at the same time felt satisfied that the boys gave it their all. Nobody else but a Pies fan would have given us a snowflakes chance in hell.
I watched it in the local with a few mates who supported both teams. It was certainly a night to remember with alot of banter before, during and after the game. I hope that the atmosphere with the same crew will be much the same with a result reversal.

That's my big concern if Jolly doesn't come up, Ottens loves playing against us
