Didn't get any prettier either, as Detroit win easilly, 78-56
Both teams shot horribly at the line (NJ 62%, Detroit 67%) and the Nets frontcourt was plagued with foul trouble. Jefferson's 1-12 effort from the field didn't help matters either

That's terrible! What's the record lowest team score and combined scores in the NBA? Surely this game would go close for both.

For the playoffs, the lowest ever score by a team is by the Jazz a few years back, when they lost to the Bulls in the 98 Finals, scoring only 54 points.

The 37-25 half-time score was the lowest combined score for a first half in postseason history.

A victory is a victory. As a Piston fan, I'll take it any way I can, even if it's uglier than sin.

Loved every minute of that game. We absolutely slaughtered them!

As for the Nets?? Just gotta put it behind them and come out firing in game 2, try to get the split and then go home. Rough start though.

Love the 'Stones work, killer D. Sheed really has made a difference to this team. Still not looking past the next game, though, but this team has all the tools to take it a loooooooooong way into the Finals.

Well that age old saying comes into play. "Defence wins championships" Detroit have a ton of D.
I hope that that saying comes true. If they can keep up the defensive tenacity, they should go far into the playoffs.

Spurs v Pistons would be sweet. We'd probably be the only people watching, but.

Interesting series it would be indeed. Who knows, they might score an average score (for 1 team) with the two teams combined.

Ahhh, all is now well for New Jersey as they lead the second game 19 - 18 at the 1/4 break :)

Jason Kidd still looks underdone, whilst Martin looks to have found some pretty good form.

On the other side of the coin, Rasheed and Hamilton continue to play some pretty good basketball.

Okay, after that super pass to Williams, i retract my previous comment.

Awesome pass.

New Jersey running away with it 31 - 23.

For all the good stuff Kidd does he just lacks that ability to dominate a game offensively in any consistent way. The Nets had nothing when the Pistons big men started dominating the paint.

That half time interview was a bit premature.

What was said?

They interviewed Jefferson (i think it was him) and he was talking about how they had changed things and why they were winning. If anyone did that in the AFL and his team went on to lose, especially in a final, can you imagine the attention he'd cop ?
