It's not just the larger breeds these b*stards steal for fighting - it's the little ones they often steal for bait!!!!

An old girfriend of mine's dad once told me that border collies had a habit of mental imbalance and could go "nuts" like that. I'm not an expert at dog behaviour so I don't know what the truth is on that.
I would definitely not say "nuts" in an aggressive sense. But they are an extremely active breed, and incredibly sharp and mentally alert and more often than not, do NOT take well to living in suburbia.

Very true, in fact a cop we knew who had busted the people responsible said that they had found a lot of small dogs that had been torn to to shreds which would give the impression that they had been used as bait, ironically the guy that was found to have been the person responsible for nicking our dog was only out of "the can" for a few weeks after serving a stretch for dousing an old fella in petrol and lighting him.

A very active breed by the way he was, and very true about not taking well to living in suburbia, even though the dog was always taken to bushland and exercised several times a week, the area we are was heavily industrial back then, and I often thought it was no place for a farm dog.
But, nobody listens to ya when you're 13 :p

He was tied up in the back seat of my car-hardly "public". He'd bark once, they'd scream then laugh when they saw him in his seatbelt. He was NEVER out in "public" unrestrained. I already said that.
As I recall you said: "I used to like taking Mr Aggressive through drive-thrus at KFC and Maccas. When the "staff" would put their hand out with our order, the dog would go off his nut! Was NEVER close enough to actually do anything but it scared the sh** out of them."

That's not "bark once" then they laugh. Its one of the two - quite different - cases you outlined. If it was the first case (that I replied to), then IMO you were (are?) an irresponsible dog owner. There are people out there who are genuinely scared of dogs. Since there's no way you can know if someone fits that category, allowing the possiblity that your large dog might scare them is cruel.

Also to people going on about particular breeds being not violent or otherwise, you might want to consider that people scared of dogs may not be able to really tell one breed from another and be just as scared of a big dog from a placid breed as one from an aggressive breed.

You never delivered pizzas in Werribee, did you? If so, do you recall a house with a green roof and front door that had a nasty Weimaraner with a very loud, menacing bark.........
Ah, no. North Perth/Leederville/Northbridge/Mt Lawley/Perth CBD/Subiaco/Nedlands/Wembley/Floreat and suburbs around those. Not really near Werribee ;)

hehe I just realised an oversight on my part, I forgot there is a Werribee in WA.. I meant the one about 33km from Melbourne.
