not everyone finds their mojo before their 20th birthday.

Ah men to that.

Still haven't found it yet, but at least I know roughly where I put it....

Just on Spurr, I like him, think he adds a bit, but seeing him in this week would feel like a kick in the guts, bastard cost me 2 donuts over the byes, and it would hurt like hell to see him sitting there on the bench this week, knowing that if he played a week earlier I could be sitting god knows how much higher.

Seen 2 WAFL games and to me he looks OK, in the pace dept from the spread aspect he actually looked quickish (granted not straight line quick) - question bringing him on as a sub.

Certainly would rather Spurr in - however saying he ain't made is a level of supreme premature speculation.

For the record - he is younger than Sutcliffe ...not everyone finds their mojo before their 20th birthday.

WAFL yep - delist ...shhhhhhhhhhheeeeet

Pitt was top 10 for his year in the agility sprints so he shouldn't have below average speed. I was a bit suprised he got picked this past weekend because he had had his first game where he had over 20 possessions-should have given a few more weeks to get the confidence higher...

From what I saw of Pitt's draft highlights he's no tortoise. Has good lateral movement and decent pace, as you've pointed out.

Hinkley was apparently one of the quickest guys in our squad and I never really saw it.

Some guys use the pace that they've got, and others don't seem to know how to. From the games that I've seen Pitt play in the past (didn't see Sat's game) I honestly think it's between the ears. You watch De Boer... he is always running flat stick at the ball and the man. There's no question on his pace... it's very good. With Pitt, it's hard to gauge as he doesn't seem to want the ball. He honestly looks intimidated and hesitant... like he doesn't think he can catch his man or get to the contest, or doesn't really want to deep down.

I reckon he's fighting a mental battle playing against men (bigger bodies), and against the step up in class. He also mightn't be reading the game well and using his pace effectively. Dunno what the reasons are, but I've rarely seen him look like he's putting in 110% in a chase or a contest. Feed him some raw meat, make him watch Rocky a couple of times a day and teach him some boxing/MMA.

Just last year we had a bloke with great footskills and vision who everyone believed needed a heart transplant. This year we have a HBF and occasional CHB who is in all Australian form. Partly it may have been heart, but I think a lot of what turned MJ around was having a consistent role to play, and having a point to prove. No questions about his heart this year.

Pitt may need a light bulb moment or something, but I think he needs to spend some time with a sports psyche. I think he's intimidated/doubts himself.

You didn't look at the lists, you just looked at the ladder. Our players aren't performing to there potential, WC's are, as simple as that.

The ladder has nothing to do with it. I am talking about the kids that that were drafted to both clubs over that period of time.

You say: "Our players aren't performing to there (SIC) potential, WC's are, as simple as that."

And I say: And why do you think that is and what can be done about it?

Schammer tested well for agility as well. Speed and agility are different things.

Pitt isn't slow, he's just average. The problem is, I can't recall ever seeing him move out of 3rd gear. It's attitude as much as anything. Hinkley was quick, but he never put his head down and actually f'n ran. Peake was quick, but he always seemed to run around in circles (and fall over).

Pitt could use some more desperation sure. But I really think he is going to be a very good player. People say they cant see where he will play. Midfield. He will be a midfielder. He will use the ball well, his tackling will improve, and he will be a reasonable overhead mark. Also he will be very good at reading the ball from messy situations like bounces and throw ins. At the moment yeh he is a bit afraid of a physical contest. But once he is at his ideal fighting weight, and turns from boy to man, he will lose that fear and bring a more aggressive game. We've all obviously seen enough football and footballers to know that it just happens that way with some. Some start out tough, others learn to be. Some begin knowing how to win the ball and having that desire, others need to work on it. He really just needs to understand that he can play, and that the harder he tries the luckier he will get.

But writing him off now. Just cliche football followers I guess.
