In anticipation of the next superstar of our game arriving to Catland in 07, I have been thinking about some possible nicknames. What does everyone think about TOM-a-HAWK?

I've come up with a totally radical and appropiate name. What about Tom 'Tommy' Hawkins.

Stop placing pressure on the kids shoulders.

Any new recruit arriving at Geelong has pressure on them to deliver a premiership you've waited a long time for (we've waited longer).

(The rest of this should probably be in another thread)

Hawkins already has loads and loads of pressure and expectations from all you Geelong supporters and the media and when he throws in 3 bad games consecutivey, you'll be questioning him. You will. The test of a good player will be how he re-acts to the criticism and poor performances.

Should be noted, and already has been, that he is a giant playing a kids game. Matched up upon someone giving him 10cm and 10kg. I was at the Vic Metro vs SA game, still got a lot of puppy fat and it'll be interesting to see how mobile he is after an extensive weights program.

He plays for MGS in school footy and it's reaching its finish and they're at a critical stage, with them having to win their next game to progress into finals, how does big Hawk play in the pressure games for his school?? Last year, i saw him in arguably the biggest game of his career, the Cordner Eggleston Cup, played between Scotch College vs Melbourne Grammar. MGS lost and Hawkins was beaten comprehensively, maybe he just had an off day? maybe he doesn't play well in big games? Interesting stuff. Didn't know what to do to arrest his team out of a slump.

No doubt he's matured since this game and i'll expect to see a new and improved Tom Hawkins come this year's Cordner Eggleston Cup.
