Why do we seem to go for the " older left over players" from other clubs???
Why is it the young players we trade become stars at other clubs???
Do we not have a proffesional training staff and or draft admin???

I am very interested in your thoughts on what Freo are doing wrong, and what you think they should be doing right.

Not enough people asking uninsightful, loaded questions like yourself. We need more supporters like you to disguise their lack of knowledge about what goes on, and what has gone on, at the club by ask these "hard-hitting" questions!

WE go for the quick fix because the surge in membership has been built on
"the promise of better things a head" the admin(read CEO) has to keep pulling rabbits out of a hat to keep the membership conned into believing they can deliver instead of building a side thru the draft which would take longer(not as glamourous) and the club would need to work harder to attract members

end off 2001 - Croad/Farmer
end off 2002 - headland
end of 2004- J.Carr/Black/schofield
end of 2005 - Harvey/Shaw
end of 2006- Tarant/Solomon
end of 2007 - ???????

LOL!

Schofield is the only "older left-over player" on that list. Why did you try and flesh out the list by adding coaches?

I reckon it's the fact that they are buckling under the pressure to achieve quick success to the point that they think that they have to top up with these experienced players as being the way to go.

Crikey! , 6 best 22 players and a Coach.

Fairly successful strategy.

Is it just me, or is it the fact that they are buckling under the pressure to achieve quick success to the point that they think that they have to top up with these experienced players as being the way to go.

It could also be that we have one 26 year-old, 5 time All Australian CHF. Players like that are once in a generation, so recruiting talented players around his age-group kinda makes sense when you think about it.
