G'day sainters,

Am very keen to put a 100 dollar bet on one of your boys for a top 3 finish in the brownlow. However haven't seen you play a hell of a lot this year so not sure on whether to go dal, montagna, hayes or maybe even goddard. My initial thought was montagna, but basically only because he is leading the champion data rankings. So if you could give me your opinion (considering you have been watching them all year) that would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

I'll be putting my money on Hayes this year. From round 8 he has been on fire, and could've easily picked up 4/5 BOGs since then.

He's also a super-nice bloke, which should go well with the umpires and the voting system. Would be surprised to see him get less than 20 votes on the night.

Montagna should be close, I backed Hayes for the brownlow when he was 30to1 with some multiples and I think he's a big chance. But then theres Judd and Gaz who are racking up the BOG's.

Dal Santo and Hayes have shown they are umpires pets in the past, polling massively. (Dal in 05 and Hayes in 06 before he done his knee) so either will be a good chance. Goddard is a fail when it comes to the Brownlow. To much of a smart ass lol.

Montagna is a chance though because he runs and carries so much, which surely would go noticed by the umpires. Riewoldt is just a legend too, can't right him off.

Honestly, not sure we're the greatest team to place a bet on. Montagna, Hayes and Dal Santo are fighting with each other for votes, and that's before you factor in Goddard, Ray and those pesky non-midfielders.

Lenny would be my selection from us. Carrying the ball alot more this year which should catch the umpires eyes, rather than getting his 25 -30 possies in tight like in previous seasons. Apart from the blatant Ablett and Judd. Simon Black has had an outstanding season.

To be frank, i would keep my money in my skyrocket if i was you re: sainters.

The problem is that everyone contributes - so one week it'll be lenny, roo the next, monty the next etc.

I would look for a judd who is the absolute standout in the team if i had a few dollars.

Exactly. Of the Saints I would expect Joey to be best, but BJ, Hayes, ( maybe Ray last weekend ) will be stealing votes off him.

People keep saying they'll take votes off each other...

But look at the Lions, Akermanis and Black both won one in probs the greatest midfield the AFL has seen. Judd and Cousins won one in probs the second greatest midfield, and Bartel won another in the 3rd greatest! Not to mention Ablett went within a bees dick of it both times, and Corey smashed it a couple years ago.

:thumbsu: - Look at garry ablett last year for a good example. Excellent player in a great team & goes bust.

I heard a tip also of an adam goodes type. Sydney are rubbish this year but he's an umpy favourite of course so probably not a bad bet.

Exactly. In all 16 games how many opposition players are actually going to poll votes when teams are getting kept to about 50 points a game and getting killed. So out of possible 96 brownlow votes you would think we'd have at least 75% of the votes. So even if they take votes of each other theres plenty of votes to share around. Or we will have 5-6 players finish on 15 votes each
