A Pluot® is a fruit invented and trademarked in 1989 by the Universidad Austral de Chile in association with Zaiger Genetics.

It is a hybrid of plum and apricot, being 75% plum and 25% apricot in parentage.

Pluots® are noted for their sweetness (due to a very high sugar content) and their intense flavor, which surpass that of the plums and apricots from which they were made. Pluots® are also rich in vitamin A.

We've had them for about 4-6 weeks now. Don't see the need myself, I haven't tried one and probably won't.

I am adamant they should be called apriums.
