Hi,
I checked the sticky threads to see if there was a topic on this. i could not find.

Anyway any advise on which HUD system to download? I'm on Full Tilt. The simpler the better really. SharkScope doesn't work on full tilt i believe?

Poker Tracker and Holdem Manager both have free trials, download them both and buy the one you prefer. Poker trackers is 2 months and holdem managers is 2 weeks I think.

Yeah I'm not saying that I've got a cracked copy, however im sure there are some 2NL (maybe even 5NL) players whos br would take a big hit if they purchased a copy.

BTW its naughty so don't do it!

If you are playing 2NL or 5NL, I would advise to avoid using a HUD. Focus on observation, hand reading and taking notes. A HUD is a potential impediment to developing those essential skill for taking your game to the next level.

Make sure you trial both

Either way, making a purchase soley based on the HUD isnt a smart thing to do

HUDs are good but not great, dont think you will improve in leaps and bounds once you find out someone is raising from the CO at a higher % of the norm

It will be months and months before you have any meaningful stats on people, and if your playing micros you will never meet the same players enough for a HUD to tell you a true story of their playing styles

If you are a micro grinder, I would recommend having a look at which one tracks your progress the best. What you find is easier to navigate and which one you get the max value out of.

The HEM trial is much shorter than PT3, so PT3 will leave a lasting impression. I suggest use PT3 first then move onto HEM and make your decision from there

Any HUD can be modified to suit what you need, so make your choice based on the entire program

I'd hate to imagine the average VP$IP for 2NL players lol

HUDs are absolutely essential for anyone that wants to play more than 2 tables.

Of course HUDs have their merits, but I was where OP was about 6 months ago

Playing without a HUD you think you are missing out on a big secret that everybody else has. It is hardly the case. They are helpful when playing 6+ tables (if you must have a HUD when 4 tabling then you have some strange attention or memory disorder) to keep track of opponents but it wont make you a better player

If OP is still going to be 4 tabling 25NL or something, a HUD isnt going to lift his winrate at all

Disagree with this generally, but would be interested to know what stakes OP is intending on playing.

Depending on the volume OP is going to be putting in, HUD will be end up being helpful for game selection alone.

U want to be seeing stats on regs before u sit down to see whether u can look for another spot that could be more profitable. Obv even where u sit in a particular game has a huge influence.

Btw, out of the two options, would recommend HEM.

I'm mainly a tournament player but would like to get into cash games more now so I purchased Dan Harrington's book "Harrington on online cash games - 6max no limit".

He mentions using a HUD so I went and downloaded the 60 day trial of Pokertracker 3. Unfortunately I'm finding it quite annoying.

I've set-up all the stats I want and they come up on the screen when I'm playing but I've found a lot of problems with it:

- Players stats dissapearing
- Not showing my stats
- Not updating when a new player sits down
- Stops after 30 hands even if I'm playing
- Froze at 5 hands the other day.

What's the story with the 30 hand shut-off? I thought if I was playing in the hand I could have unlimited hand imports?

Anyone else have trouble with this?

I decided to read a bit of the manual last night and now have this working a treat. Spewing I haven't been using this for longer - great program.

Will do - thanks for the advice.

I'm presuming you prefer HEM?

I do, and a lot of other people do.

I tried PT3 on repeated 30 day (or was it 60 day) trials. I found the support to be very poor, and I eventually got frustrated by the lack of progress with site support - they would announce a timeline for supporting sites and six months late had not added a single site. I believe the reason they originally had such a long trial period is because PT3 was so buggy initially that it took that long (and longer) to get it all sorted out.

PT3 is probably a lot more stable now, but I've made my choice, and it's very good, especially with Omaha plugin.
