Polak new contract?

I'm sure I heard on SEN talk back this afternoon that Richmond have re-signed Polak to a new contract... I only heard a snippet of it on air... anyone else know anything about what was said?

Don't think it is a contract, just that we won't be delisting him.

One of our options is to extend his current contract for another year.Lets just say he,s on 400G.
We extend his contract by a year.
200G for both 09 and 10.
We save 200G in the cap which from what i understand will be used on the rookie list.We,ll have 6 rookies next year.
Great on both fronts.We still help out Polly while still in recovery and we get 2 extra Rookies.

The money from the rookies will not be made at Polaks expense. The extra 2 rookies has been funded by the generous supporters on Jack Dyer Medal night and continual contributions from supporters that keep coming. Hopefully we would have reached the $100k by now.

Pretty sure he had a year to go.

Could just be a restructure of it...higher base, but smaller match fees, so he gets more money, and we have more space in the cap/budget as his total potential salary would be lower.

Bad luck for Polak but why should we extend contracts etc for he will most likely never play footy again let alone at senior level.

All evidence points at him not playing next year and beyond that is anyones guess?

If he makes a miraculous recovery and is able to play in 2010 (big IF) he will 26 years old.

Question would the Tigers recruit a 26 year old now that hasn't played for two years? I would think not.

Again bad luck to Polak but in the best interests of the list should we not renew his contract? We could do with the room in the salary cap over the next few years because with the Gold Coasters comming into the comp they will be making some serious plays for some talent and we may not be able to keep some of our young talent we are now building.
