I know he re-signed earlier this year but I think hes perfect to our needs. Freo have Polak and McPharlin, if Pavlich plays KP hes best suited to CHB and Connoly says that he would like Haddrill to play at CHB. With four very able CHB's I think if we offered Freo the right deal we could pick up one of them, idealy Polak. So what could we offer Freo? I thought maybe something like this-
Chambers + 4th rounder to Carlton = 2nd rounder
2nd rounder + Morrison to Kangaroos = Jones + 3rd rounder
Sampi+Jones+1st rounder to Freo = Polak

We-
Lose: Chambers, Morrison, Sampi, 1st, 4th
Gain: Polak + 3rd
Carlton-
Lose: 2nd Rounder
Gain: Chambers+4th
Kangaroos:
Lose: Jones +3rd rounder
Gain: Morrison + Carltons 2nd rounder
Freo:
Lose: Polak
Gain: Sampi, Jones, Pick 12

Pretty poor attempt I know but gets rid of players who want to trade, Sampi+Pick 12 wouldnt be enough on its own. Freo need key forwards Jones is meant to be promising. If this didnt work could trade Humm and a pick for White? Yeah anyway forgeting the poor attempt at a trade. What would you give up for Polak and could he fix our problems?

EDIT: Kangas have already used their round 3 so make it a round 4 or forget it.

Kerr for Polak usually gets mentioned at least once a year. Right now I'd be happy to take it ;)

I dont think Kerrs off field behaviour is bad enough to warrant an immediate trade. Unless he did a Milney or something like that I would keep him even.

Hold the phone, how do we lose Sampi in the first place???
Oh, no, this isn't what I think it is, is it? TRADE WEEK!!
And as for getting Stenglein... :)

I'm not exactly full bottle on it, perhaps someone else knows. But what I think it refers to is that he signed a new contract earlier in the season with his original club, then they shafted him by threatening to delist him if he didn't accept a trade to another club during trade week.

You are kidding aren't you ?

Sampi was only 2 picks behind Polak when they were drafted, and "Polly" hasn't performed anywhere near expectations.

Sampi and pick 12 would be more than enough.

The Heffernan rule is so name because of the trading of Chris Heffernan by Essendon to Melbourne after the 2002 season. Heffernan had resigned during the 2002 season and so was surprised to get a phone call telling him he was on his way to Melbourne. The result of this that the AFL under pressure from the AFLPA introduced the Heffernan rule, that is a player can not be traded if they are under contract except where that player chooses to be traded.

I dont think a player or club can break a contract, no matter how long it is, within the first 12 months of that contract. After that you can do what you want, no matter how long the contract is for.

I'm about 85% on this.
