I'm not just saying this because I want him but if Polak wants to further his career he should leave the dockers.

Basically every player that has left and become a better player.

He needs a fresh new start.

Just like Schell, Gale, Delaney, Harding, TLo, Koops, Bandy, Carroll, Callaghan, O'Reilly, Clark, Wills, Dhurrkay, Mitchell, Ridley, Groom, Nettlebeck & Krummel did? Each of them were robbed of brownlow medals, weren't they.

Koops really relished leaving to become a Bulldog. So sad that we picked up Mundy in that deal. So did Kingsley Hunter become a better player, and even better when he was traded again to Hawthorn. Brown has not become a better player (still a servicable player, nothing more, whereas Schammer is exactly what we needed). How were the success stories for the Eagles that came from the Dockers? Of course some have become better players, but your generalisations undermine your credibility.

I imagine Schwabby is far too busy crafting the next Sinclair/McPhee/Croad/oops Croad Again type 'superdeal' to waste time with west coast and our prosaic, boring approach to trading.

And fair enough really. We all know that as per the laws of the universe,
Polak is going to be a superstar just as soon as he leaves the dockers- if the dockers trade him interstate at least they can sweep it under the carpet and pretend it never happened, but it's a bit tough to do that when he's still in the same time zone.

Moreover, it would be downright impolite on our parts to deign to trade with Freo. We've already reamed them out on the field multiple times this year, trying to do the same off field is just getting greedy.

No, see the magic only works when Freo include them in a complex 'Player X for Player Y for Player Z for 3 draft picks from 2015 for the newspaper from the day Chris Judd was born' type deal.

You know, the kind you're currently trying to assemble to get Hay?

Or maybe you just got a "no thanks. we don't want to trade him." Bit hard to understand?

And even more damning is the number of players that have gone backwards after going to Fremantle.

That's why I want to trade Hay to Fremantle. He's currently the least skilled player in the AFL and provides great comic relief in an otherwise serious game of football. The prospect of him going backwards has me in hysterics before it's even happened...

Came from Nisbert himself.

Nissie:
"We would like Polly as he is a gun and would really help out our duds"
Freo:
"No, He is not available."

Or words to that effect. ;)

Actually, your esteemed president Mr Hart said (on C7 news)that he was a required player, who Freo believe will become an excellent player and won't be traded "...unless someone offers us an exceptional deal"....

Hardly the same thing as "he is not available".

Semantics is everything in trade week!

Cheers.

LOL.
And you're right - Headland, Josh Carr, Heath Black, Farmer - all were guns, now look very ordinary.
Poor old Jonny Hay - if he goes to Freo and his form and confidence go further down... he might feel like taking a LOT of sleeping tablets....

Black had his best season ever this year. Farmer his second best ever. J Carr was actually not too bad for his first year at a new club.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

they were all plonkers to begin with. I dare say no other club had traded 4 players who won best and fairest's with their new club in one year (2004). And 3 AA players in one year. More than the number of freo reps.

In fact, there arnt many players who are traded who win b+f at their new clubs but as I said, freo managed 4 in one year.

All traded for basically nothing.

I hear that Fremantle are trying to start the worlds first retirement home for athletes in their prime. The slogan is "can't be f-ed with consistency? Don't want to work to maintain your skill level? Would like to be coached by the Muffin man! Join the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and we can make a program for you...And you if join within the next 2 years you'll get to play alongside Mathew Pavlich for only a slight strain of your salary cap".

Jon Hay wants in people.

I would love them to trade Polak to the Eagles....why?

Tell me a trade made between the Eagles and Dockers that has ever worked out, Hynes, Metropolis, Caroll, Godden, Harding, etc.

At least we would not have to suffer the ebarresment of him ever becoming an AA which might happen if he went interstate.

Just give us Fletcher or Kerr for Polak plus a pick or player and lets make the derbies interesting!

So, your backing away from this statement now?

Dockers policy is that any player can be traded if the right deal is there. They are very open about it. And it would be incredible if in practice all the clubs don't have a substantially similar policy. Of course an Ablett isn't going to be traded from Geelong, but throw Judd and Kerr on the table and they might be tempted. (example only, used for the purpose of illustration only, and not to be confused as being an opinion of this posters estimation of any players worth or otherwise).

Thats right...even your president said it was a good year...

Great year Freo...well done

Maybe that is what your problem is at Freo...you accept average years.....we at Hawthorn do not accept that Hay has been the last 3 years. 2005 he did what was a expected as a minimum, the last 2 years before that he was shocking....
