Just like Schell, Gale, Delaney, Harding, TLo, Koops, Bandy, Carroll, Callaghan, O'Reilly, Clark, Wills, Dhurrkay, Mitchell, Ridley, Groom, Nettlebeck & Krummel did? Each of them were robbed of brownlow medals, weren't they.theorangeapple said:Basically every player that has left and become a better player.
Koops really relished leaving to become a Bulldog. So sad that we picked up Mundy in that deal. So did Kingsley Hunter become a better player, and even better when he was traded again to Hawthorn. Brown has not become a better player (still a servicable player, nothing more, whereas Schammer is exactly what we needed). How were the success stories for the Eagles that came from the Dockers? Of course some have become better players, but your generalisations undermine your credibility.theorangeapple said:I'm not just saying this because I want him but if Polak wants to further his career he should leave the dockers.

He needs a fresh new start.

And fair enough really. We all know that as per the laws of the universe,
Polak is going to be a superstar just as soon as he leaves the dockers- if the dockers trade him interstate at least they can sweep it under the carpet and pretend it never happened, but it's a bit tough to do that when he's still in the same time zone.
Moreover, it would be downright impolite on our parts to deign to trade with Freo. We've already reamed them out on the field multiple times this year, trying to do the same off field is just getting greedy.
And even more damning is the number of players that have gone backwards after going to Fremantle.theorangeapple said:Basically every player that has left and become a better player.

Nissie:
"We would like Polly as he is a gun and would really help out our duds"
Freo:
"No, He is not available."
Or words to that effect.![]()

That's why I want to trade Hay to Fremantle. He's currently the least skilled player in the AFL and provides great comic relief in an otherwise serious game of football. The prospect of him going backwards has me in hysterics before it's even happened...
Black had his best season ever this year. Farmer his second best ever. J Carr was actually not too bad for his first year at a new club.Books said:LOL.
And you're right - Headland, Josh Carr, Heath Black, Farmer - all were guns, now look very ordinary.
Poor old Jonny Hay - if he goes to Freo and his form and confidence go further down... he might feel like taking a LOT of sleeping tablets....

I hear that Fremantle are trying to start the worlds first retirement home for athletes in their prime. The slogan is "can't be f-ed with consistency? Don't want to work to maintain your skill level? Would like to be coached by the Muffin man! Join the Fremantle Dockers Football Club and we can make a program for you...And you if join within the next 2 years you'll get to play alongside Mathew Pavlich for only a slight strain of your salary cap".Books said:And you're right - Headland, Josh Carr, Heath Black, Farmer - all were guns, now look very ordinary.

theorangeapple said:they were all plonkers to begin with. I dare say no other club had traded 4 players who won best and fairest's with their new club in one year (2004). And 3 AA players in one year. More than the number of freo reps.
In fact, there arnt many players who are traded who win b+f at their new clubs but as I said, freo managed 4 in one year.
All traded for basically nothing.

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.
