Polak?

Hi All,

Just interested to see what your thoughts are on Polak.

Do you think he will be given another chance with the Tiges? or will Hardwick go hard with his new style and cut the kid?

I followed a fair bot of him when he first moved to Tigerland but must admit i didnt catch his 2 (or 3?) AFL comeback games. Was he going okay?

Earnt his spot coming up thru Coburg, played in a helmet, went hard at it but didnt get much of it.
not sure how much actual game time he had.

If we had any $$$$$ I would have delisted him (payed out his contract), payed some kid from the TAC U/18 min. wage, helped his recovery at Coburg and maybe redrafted if any good. You have to be ruthless. Matthew Egan and Trent Croad are similar stories. We have to be ruthless.
I thought of Schulz when this thread started. Was it a PR exercise playing Polak ahead of Schulz at the end of the year or is Schulz not that good?

Untill a good mate of mine bumped into him @ 6 am the day after the West Coast game in Hawthorn , with no shoes on, covered in mud and absolutely out of his mind

Mate told me he trying to climb onto the roof of a milk bar and was an absoulte mess



I know boys will be boys but not sure thats the kind of player i want at the tigers

Agree...have heard about a month ago he was on shaky ground.

Sympathy says keep him.

No time for sentiment in football these days and he never really starred for us. Delist him but hopefully he plays next year with Coburg.

I think we are letting more than enough guys go.

Polak did improve enough to earn a couple of runs in the seniors and he could still improve further.

It has been said before, guys of his height and mobility who can play key positions forward and back are thin on the ground.

Early on I thought we were just doing the right thing by helping him along with his rehab ... now I believe he has come on more than even he could have hoped.

Fingers crossed he will play a fair bit of senior football in 2010 and then you never know

would be a waste to keep him during the year and then dump him when he looks like getting back. we couldve helped him recover without keeping him on the list if that was the only reason.

at best I would Look to rookie him if that were possible, I didnt see enough from two senior games to suggest he is anywhere near a return to elite level football

If the club decides to let him go let him go , only Damien knows what we need next year, maybe give him 12 more months. I heard that he was never going to play another game, he played two. At first you could get a word out of the distant guy now heholds great conversation. On the ground he kicked one of the best freak goals you will ever see, not bad for a guy who is not good enough. At Coburg he was in the best every week and when put into the ruck changed the course of a couple of games.

What do Polak, McGuanne, Moore, Thursfield, Rance, King and Polo all have in common. Their skills are at under 12's level.

not every player in every team can have perfect skills. god everyone on bigfooty is such a perfectionist!

im pretty sure their skills would have to be half decent to make it to such a high level of professional sport, AFL. If they had sub-par skills they would most likely be playing VFL every week, or Div one local football, which i would guess you have never played either of?
