I agree with you, perhaps the representation in recent times has been like a tsunami though.

It only feels like a tsunami because it's coming from a base of zero. People need to realise this. Slowly slowly - why? So it doesn't offend straight people? What? This group of people have been completely ignored on our TVS, on radio, in advertising and mostly on the big screen for a very long time. The fact is, they are your doctor, your dentist, your plumber, your teacher, your accountant. They have every right to be represented in our media. For all these years they've been made to feel that they don't belong. The time is here to change that. And this slowly-slowly bit so it doesn't ruffle peoples feathers is, frankly, nonsense.

And frankly; my doctor, my dentist, my plumber, my teacher, and my accountant would agree with me.

I’ve never understood why people put people up on a pedestal because of the way they conduct themselves after a disaster. It’s as if they’ve ascended a higher plane because they’ve acted like nearly everybody else. The only difference is that they’re a public face. That QLD premier during the floods was a prime example, as was ferret face after Walsh’s murder. They’re no better than anyone else, stick a microphone in front of any decent human and you’ll get a similar result.

I remember Sanders showing a human side not previously seen during our grieving period following Walsh’s murder. It actually cut me up, he was so despondent. I might be being pathetic, but I hate the way that politicians are held up on a pedestal following significant human misery.
 
How come countries such as China, Japan, India, Turkey etc have managed to escape the diversity obsession that Western countries have had to endure. In fact the diversity obsession only seems to apply to Western countries.

Maybe that's why we're a much better place to live (excluding Japan)? Those countries have serious social problems with race and gender being up there.

Diversity can be a strength if in moderation not at the record levels we have seen in Australia over the last decade. Interesting though that those countries who call Australia a racist country have hardly any diversity themselves.
 
Diversity isn’t so much the issue, rather it’s unchecked immigration designed to boost the economy while cutting the quality of life for existing residents in terms of congestion, housing affordability, low wage growth and hospital waiting lists. There’s plenty of surveys to suggest people are frustrated, but the way things are at present one can’t speak up about it without being labelled a racist. Even the Greens used to have policies about limiting migration on environmental grounds but quietly shelved them after the rise of Pauline Hanson.

Anyway, on the weekend I dropped into a local toy shop and apparently someone had just left in a huff seemingly upset after some innocuous comments made by another customer over being inconvenienced by the recent Melbourne CBD vegan protests. Will be looking out for a vegan protest outside a toy shop in the next few weeks.

We begin with a young lesbian couple, one a ravishing redhead who looks like Emma Stone, the other a gorgeous blonde who looks like Kate Upton:

Lesbian 1: I think we're subverting some sort of paradigm.

Lesbian 1: After years of only heterosexual couples being in ads, there's a lot of catching up to do!
