1. From the very first game I was astonished that we had positional changes everywhere. Too many for our first game. Three new back men, Haynes, JSOS, Hollands, practice matches don't cut it for adhesion. Maybe one with JSOS for Kemp. Not 3 especially after losing Newman, we needed another experienced player back there, DOC for example.

2. Why has Hollands been moved to half back, he gets tackled so easily and gets his tackles broken just as easy. Not sharp with ball, let him play ressies until he thickens or hardens up a bit, I like his commitment but that is not enough. Can't we go back to Acres and the red head on the wing.

Why is Voss so obsessed with contested possession all the time, yes it's important but it doesn't win you games against well organised and drilled teams.

To me all the above is on Voss, the players look confused, again on Voss, players not trying, again on Voss as they don't rate him, it's so obvious.

Agree that Ollie is wing or bust. His negatives are exposed when he plays in defence. His running is his strength and wingers have to run more than anyone. He's okay getting back to help out in defence, but not lining up on a forward.

The Silvagni change has worked so far. Very impressed.

Ollie's clangers on a wing are far less damaging for the team. I've liked that he's been trying to bite off more difficult options but he can do that kicking inside our fwd 50 instead of in our d50.

Happy to put my hand up re JSOS down back too. His strength in the contest and mobility has been phenomenal coming back from his knee. Would be top 5 in the BNF rn imo.

Hollands is not a halfback. He should be playing wing or VFL. Docherty should be playing halfback or VFL.
Ollie is a liability on the backline. Wing / half forward (Bobby Hill type role) would suit him better.

Could use his running/endurance strength to run into forward space for uncontested marking option - would be nice to see some uncontested opportunities created on the forward line for a change.

Dunno about wing or bust. Still think he could be a genuine HFF, getting his 20 disposals and a goal a week by legit running his man into the ground, popping up late in games to put the icing on the cake with 1+ second half goals.

Problem is, the coach doesn't see an offensive use for flankers or pockets...

My main change at the moment would be to do something to generate more run out if defence.

I don’t think we need to play all of Weitering, Silvagni, Gov, and Haynes. One of the latter two should be dropped, and whoever is considered the best small or midsized defender currently missing out should be brought in.

If selection was up to me, I would drop Gov and bring in Carroll. I’d also move Hollands back to the wing and play Boyd.

We don't have any proper small forwards so we need to experiment there.

1. Boyd forward. Fogarty was on the cusp of being delisted a few years ago, he was playing midfield and a bit forward in the VFL. We didn't have any small forwards then (just like now) so we threw him forward and he went ok. So we signed him and played him there. Do the same with Boyd. Difference is Boyd can kick, he's a better footballer.

2. Kemp going forward was good but I want to see him playing high half forward and wing. Not deep so much.

3. Carroll. He really wows me. He's probably not ready yet but when he is I want to see him play on a wing and in the middle a bit. If not, no big deal, he will be a very good backman. He's is a player who is the prototype for all the mids and half backs we should be recruiting. Speed, clean skills, run and carries, great kick and goes very hard in the contests. High intensity player.

Speaking of things SOS related...

I like JSOS to the backline.

He lacks the speed and agility to get separation in the forwardline. Lacks speed and endurance to be a full-time mid.

What he does have is footy smarts, he reads the ball well and plays with desperation. He has shown good defensive nous during his limited time spent tagging. He has good vision, nice skills too and can kick to advantage.

I think he'd be a good 3rd tall in the backline (as long as he's not playing on super quick players).

Granted he is competing with Plowman, Marchbank and Doc for that role of 3rd tall/defensive sweeper. But I think backline is what best suits his strengths and most hides his weaknesses.

And now for tomorrow's lotto numbers... :p
