POSITIVES

Damien Peverill/Cory McGrath - two boys that will step straight into the side i would imagine, both showed a great deal of ability and no doubt will be in the top 22 next year

Danny Jacobs- was forced to play as a key back and i dont think he was beaten, looks all class and has a bright future, along with mark mcveigh he really stepped up

Round 16 v Kangaroos - possibly the best game ever, another record to the boys, sensational effort

NEGATIVES

yesterday

Agree, Danny, Pev & Corey have been fantastic. What I'd really like to see is Bolts and Henneman to show the same sort of improvement as they did this year as key position players come damn handy.

yeah your right dave

henno had some really really good games where i thought, hang on this boy can play, he will be a star
then he does the odd thing which is a bit of a worry

bolts will be a sean wellman i think, a running tall back who will set up play and give a lot of drive, whilst also being able to hold his own playing tight on a forward

Positives:
The Blanket (Pev)
Ooh Aah (Cory McGrath)
Danny Jacobs - well done Danny Boy - hold your head high (after GF)
Slash - The Mark (what happened after that though?)
McVeigh (still a little inconsistent)
(Slow) Development of Hille (still a year or so away though)
Some of the Ressies players (Davies is going to be an absolute GUN!)
Bannister (After a HEAVY pre-season in the gym to bulk up)
Solomon's finals form - knows when to step up (a la 2000)

Negatives
Losing Smoken Joe
Injuries
Retirements (Wally, Long, Barnes)
Barnsey's form (I know it hurts to say it, but he's been pretty ordinary compared to last year)
Persistance with duds like MacAlister
Persistance with Henneman on blokes that throw him around too easily(I just don't think he is strong or fast enough for an important defender role - I hope to be proven wrong though)
Losing to Carlton TWICE (Goddamit!!!!)
Having Brisbane beat us at our own (2000) game in the GF:(

Positives:
Oh Ah Cory Will be playing
Peverill
If we draft Porter it will be a bonus

Negatives:
Not one person has mention that we are still persisting with Daniel Mc(Hacklister)Aclister. Proven Dud.

And, one extremely disapointing thing about 2002 is that Troy Wilson will maybe be no longer playing with West Coast. So I won't be able to yell out my patented "Good One Wilson!" line at the Windy Hill Social Club when we play the weagles at subiaco again. :(

'OOIRRIGHTTT WILLLSONNNN!"
:p

Here's some I just though of and posted on my site, any complaints or additions let me know.

Positives:

Making the Grand Final: After finishing on top again this year, The Dons really had to at least make it to the big one, fortunately they did.
Cory McGrath: Cory played some outstanding senior football this year. He will no doubt be in the senior line up again in 2002.

Damien Peverill: A handy pickup after the Demons delisted him last year, filled in rather well for an injured Joe Misiti. Now it looks like Damien will play the vital role in the midfield next season now that Joe Misiti has unfortunately departed.

Steven Alessio: The much maligned big man came good, then he injured his knee. He played some fantastic football up forward this year. Including the game where he booted the winning goal against the Swans in round 19 at colonial stadium.

Loosing the Grand Final: As crazy as it may sound, some good may come out of the 2001 Grand Final loss to Brisbane. After loosing the 1999 Preliminary Final, Essendon went on a rampage last year and easily took home the cup. Hopefully, a dream run with injuries will make the task more achievable next season.

Negatives:

Loosing the Grand Final: On a sour note, a good season with regards to a few unfortunate injuries which had not been experienced since 1997 - 1998, Essendon finished rather well. They lined up against the best side in the competition for the last 4 months and were soundly beaten, despite being favourites all week.

Joe Misiti Departing: With the AFL's tight salary cap rules, Essendon players had to make sacrifices. Play for sucess and play for less money. Some players were able to take pay cuts, unfortunately, Joe Misiti's manager wanted more than Essendon were offering and Joe is no longer a Don.

Rumoured trade deals: Mark Mercuri and Damien Hardwick are both names that have been mentioned this week in possible deals with other clubs. Most Essendon fans are furious that Joe Misiti has left and with these rumours floating around, their still very angry.

The Club persisting with duds: Daniel McAlister is a name synonymous with most Essendon fans when they think of "underachieving" (yes we are being nice here.). A top 5 draft pick after Essendon lost Gavin Wanganeen, he has only managed a hand full of games and Essendon will persist with him again next season.
