Who do we all thing will be de-listed from the Cats this season. It's not a good thing to think about, but it has to happen and it's that time of year where they seriously consider who's going.

Go Cats!!:)

I am really hoping that they give Wooly another year. My sister will be devastated if he gets the chop and so will I. I just think he deserves another year because I really believe in this guy..... :)

wooly

I would be devasted if Wooly got cut this year. I think he deserves another year to show us just how good he can be. And as already stated i think the other two who are likely to be cut are Obe and Menschy.

JUBJUB,

If David Mensch qualifies for the veteran's list, wouldn't that mean we'd be able to keep him on our list?? What's the point delisting him if we have 2 spots on the veteran's list and noone else to go on there apart from Peter Riccardi??

Go Cats!!

Baldy#9,

Your heart must go out to Marc Woolnough after all he's been through with the knee reconstructions and coming back the way he has, but I just don't know if he'll ever make it in the seniors. His knee injuries have robbed him of pace which is exposed at AFL level and we just can't afford to carry such a player on our list in my opinion.

Go Cats!!

Yeah, Wolly is a tough one. I'd say give him one more year. If he doesn't break into the seniors on a regular basis then I think it's time for him to go. But IMO give him one more season.

Go Cats!!:)

I don't usually say this about a player, but Foster has to go. He hasn't shown much in the VFL games this season, and if he can't play well there, how is he going to be a productive player in the AFL team??

The money could surely be used to 're-erect' what would have been the 2nd worst video scoreboard in the AFL?

Better than none I guess. Plus, they took the straight feed from Channel 7, allowing a big countdown at the end of each quarter!

It kept on freezing and blacking out, often the butt of many jokes - still not as many as Carlton's one! Sheesh, the Optus one was worse than Waverley's 1970's sepia effort!

Seriously, Mensch isn't worth a spot on Geelong's list. Keep the money, try to trade him, but no one will be even remotely interested. Delist early next week, keep the young kids on the rise.

Geelong's only hope is fostering the future, Mensch is handy in the VFL, but imagine what another $100k could do toward getting Cupido or Bradshaw down the highway?

We should do everything possible to get Bradshaw, if it means paying a bit more, then so be it. He would be ideal up forward.

For me the players to go would be....

Woolnough - Just can't see where he would be of value to us.

Mensch - He was great in the VFL but if they weren't going to play him in the ones this year then what chance is there for him next year?

O'Brien - 2 years without a senior game. I'm surprised he's lasted this long.

Maybe you can get Ron Barassi, Bob Davis, or Tom Hayfey out of there retirement with the offer of a Million Dollars a season then Cry Poor to the AFL that you have no money. That your not making money at Colonial. Blah Blah Blah.

Why are Noth Melbourne and now some St.Kilda Supporters Facinated with Geelong.
What is your gripe with Geelong??

The Fact that 26 Million dollars is going to be spent on our ground, maybe your club can see the sence and Follow the Geelong Model- both on field and off field.

seems like the same 3 keep getting mentioned...and my opinion is no different.

Possibly trade Foster...but if we can't then probably keep him.

Perhaps with all our retirements, we may not need to delist as many. I'm not too sure what the exact number on our list needs to be before the draft

All the others mentioned probably have no future at Geelong, but I suspect that we'll keep Woolnough if only becuase this year's draft isn't expected to be all that great. However I wouldn't be surprised if he gets traded to Brizzie as part of an overall trade for Bradshaw or somehow even Headland. Him being a Queenslander and all. And before anybody starts, I'm not speculating that we'll get Headland, merely that there might be a Headland three or four club deal that involves Geelong getting another player/draft pick.

LOL...Telstra Dome makes no one money. Love the way you slipped in Bob Davis to compare him with Barassi and Hafey!

Where is this idea that St.Kilda has decided to 'Cry Poor to the' coming from? We haven't applied for financial consideration as of yet, and certainly won't be doing so in the near future. The AFL knows full well that St.Kilda stepped in to help with Waverley when only Hawthorn would play there, and also that it chose Telstra Dome over the MCG. The AFL would be more than willing to tip in funds if we needed them, but we don't, and we'll make money soon enough once people come to stop fearing Docklands.

No gripe at all! It's a fascinating team, that's all. It's amazing after all these years Geelong has a team in league, even more amazing is that the team still plays most of its games in Geelong. I have no gripe, I think they've done well to last as long as they have. Especially now that more than half of Geelong's members live in Melbourne and surrounding areas, accoroding to Brian Cook.

And I think, as I've stated quite a few times, Geelong have a wonderful future ahead of them. It will be exciting times down the highway if everything goes to plan.

Geelong FC is only tipping in $4m of that figure? Correct?

Are you saying we need to upgrade Docklands by $26m?

If St. Kilda followed the Geelong model off the field we'd be financially crippled. It requires totally different management. Geelong plays at a venue which is below AFL standard, according to AFL and Geelong FC. It costs Geelong about 30c to run that 'stadium'. It would be nice to do this with Moorabbin if we could, but the AFL would be pulling out the daggers if we left their pet showpiece.

Telstra Dome, Blight payment, Injuries, the forcing of rookie promotion, and high final-year-of-contract payouts to Jones, Loewe, Thompson, Hayes, Harvey, Peckett and Hudghton, not to mention Everitt's 700k, have placed huge strains on our finances this year. The deal with Mortgage House was a performance based 3-year contract. This year everything went wrong. In 2003, if we have a Geelong-esq run with injuries, we'll make the finals and make a profit.

If we followed Geelong on the field, we'd have finished 16th this year given the injuries. We may as well shut up shop tommorow!

If Geelong had lost Scarlett, King, Riccardi, Milburn, Bartel, Kingsley and Harley, (who cannot really be compared with Harvey, Burke, Gehrig, Everitt, Jones, Koschitzke, etc) how would they have gone? St.Kilda had 24 fit men to choose from in their entire squad from rounds 5 -7!

One shouldn't look for lame excuses, especially with injuries, but for gods sake, our run this year was the most 'cursed run in history' - Caroline Wilson. Mind you, anything Caro says ought to be taken with an extra grain of salt.

Geelong will do very well in the future, I think Brian Cook and Frank Costa have worked miracles down Geelong way, with Bomber doing nicely on the field. Time will tell!
