Possible dilemma..

I know I will probably get bagged for another "What if" thread (which is why i'm posting it on TSP), but anyway was discussing this with a colleague of mine the other day.

Anyway, she is a Geelong member, but will be overseas, on a cruise no less, right over the time of the finals. SO, my "What if" is, "If Geelong were in a Grand Final would you interrupt your travel plans, maybe shell out extra money to get back in time to see it?" The look of pain and anguish on my workmates face is evident.. the cruise is booked in and ready to go. But we are talking about a 40+ drought here, maybe a once in a lifetime event!

YES.... Plain and simple.

I'm heading off overseas next week but will be back in time for finals... hopefully we finish in the top 4 and have a good shot at making the big one.
 
Living in Sydney now and unfortunately only took out an interstate membership (premium, which I thought was reasonable, given cats don't play in syd this year - have also joined my baby daughter as a kitty kat member) and don't get access to GF tix. However, IF we make it, I'll be flying down and will certainly attempt to scalp. Attended 89,92,94 and 95 GFs and will be gutted if I can't attend this one (assuming we make it - yep, keeping a lid firmly on it).
 
Dude, Sydney is like up the road from Melbourne. :D

I'm talking OS.. other side of the world here.

I've been overseas twice and on one of those ocassions I didn't get back until December (missing September of course). Luckily the year was 2003 and I didn't have to make any tough decisions, if you know what I mean! ;)

My mate is an absolute twat tho for scheduling the cruise for that time. A teacher with all the hoidays in the world, and she chooses September to be cut off from the rest of the world on a cruise!!

Was merely pointing out my situation, which while granted is not OS, is perhaps shared by many cats fans around the nation whom have interstate memberships etc.
I didn't realise the thread was restricted to those OS...I've been a member of this club for 15 years and would be shattered not to attend a winning GF.

Btw, I guess what I was thinking of when i said "Sydney is up the road from Melbourne", is that scene in the movie "Eurotrip" n Scottys friends goes "London is like in the next suburb from Berlin. We could walk there!" :D:D
 
Oh yeah...Living in Sydney has its moments! Would you believe Barry Hall is on the back page of today's telegrap??? Usually have to delve at least 10 pages in.
Eurotrip was a cracker.

Unfortunately I have no choice...I won't be back until February next year. To make matters worse, my September holidays end on the friday before the last Saturday in September...which means I have to work on the Saturday, until 1:30pm (2:30pm Melbourne time), so I'll have to knock of quickly and run upstairs to get on the online radio.

I'm warning you afl.com.au, if you so much as even think about giving me shit when I want to listen to the GF (providing we make it of course...sitting on that lid), I will personally yell obscenities at my computer.

Yeah...that told them.

My mother said never to never hit a woman...except if they're collingwood where a)the sex is debatable and b) get in first before they hit you;)

Most are really great, hard working people who don't just rush out the door when the bell goes at 3pm!! I don't get what you mean... She is going on the cruise over the Term 3 holidays. You'll be happy to know the kids won't be suffering one bit!

Frankly, I wouldn't unless I could afford it. $1500 for a return ticket, plus whatever accomodations (and a ticket!) just put it out of my reach. And that would be if I went alone, let alone if my wife came with me as well.

Think I'd just have to watch the midnight broadcast.

my ex house mate and his girlfriend are both teachers and my sister is studying to be one. no hating here.

i meant you shell, all this time posting on bigfooty, what about the kids.

Oh, so you were having a go at me! That's okay then. :D

Well, my excuse today is it's the last day of term and the kids aint doing any work. There is no way in hell they are going to do any.

On a normal day I'm usually on BF early in the morning before school begins or afterwards. So no, the kids do not suffer thank you. :p
 
I'd do any means possible to get back. If i couldnt actually make it to the GF i would be sure to park my behind on a bar stool in a geelong pub which im sure will go crazy for the 48 hours following the match.
