Here's the story: tonight at work, while stacking some bottles away on the bottom shelf (work at a bottle shop), I felt a bit of pain in my lower abs down to my balls (to be frank). Didn't think much of it and kept working. After a few more squats down low the pain got pretty bad and I snapped back up straight away. Had a chat to an older bloke there and he says it sounds like it could be a hernia (he's had one before) and it didn't sound good for me. Couldn't be arsed going to the hospital at 11 o'clock at night so just deciding if I should see the doctor tomorrow. I did some similar movements when I got home after taking it easy the last hour of work and the feeling was pretty minimal like nothing happened at all in the first place. I had a look on the internet, and most sites say check for a visible lump or something you can feel. I can't see or feel anything around there with my hands (except, you know, my meat and veg) but can still feel a bit of minor internal pain.

Have any of you out there had a hernia or have any information or opinions and how does it sound for me? The repeating the movement when I got home and not feeling pain has put a bit of doubt in my mind.

I had a hernia a few years ago, was initially just a bit of a lump below my abdomen and wasn't all that painful at first so I just ignored it and hoped it would go away.

The lump got bigger and more painful though, seemed to get worse when I was out drinking and if I was wearing jeans with a belt. Eventually went to the doctor and he had a look at the lump, did a cough test and diagnosed me with a hernia.

Had to have an operation to fix it, luckily a mate of mine was a registrar at one of the big public hospitals here and was able to bump me up the waiting list so I got the operation done almost straight away for free. Normally I would have had to wait a year or two to get it done at a public hospital as it was non-life threatening or pay through the nose to get the operation done at a private hospital.

are u sure u dont have gas ....

but seriously go to a doc, internet is only good for cum box stories, not medical advice :p

yeah it's just the fact i can't see or feel any strange lumps that have me doubting myself thinking i'm over reacting. I have no intention on going to the doctor right this minute so figured it wouldn't hurt to talk about it in the meantime, but i'm definitely gonna try and get in tomorrow.

Hernia, schmernia, doctor, schmoctor, time to harden up son.

Kids these days...when I was younger if we got a hernia we thought we were lucky.

Take a Panadol. Failing that, Panadol Rapid. Good luck with your medical goals in 2012.

A Hernia is no joke guys.

Especially if it's in the lower regions, where the hernia itself is an intestine pushing through the inguinal wall. If that Hernia twists or whatever and isn't able to be "pushed back in" (however, this occurrence is very rare) it then starts to die and then you only have about 36 hours to get the surgery before it's impossible to be fixed and if it's impossible to be fixed, it's life threatening.

There's a reason why your internal organs are internal - because they're very susceptible to being ruptured or injured from outside variables. With that said, this is still unlikely because it's still inside your body, but there is always that risk.

Also, you have to make sure you pick the right surgeon, and hope he does a good job - because it CAN put your libido at risk. People who have had shit surgeries have gone on to experience erection problems and stuff. And sometimes the Hernia can come back.

It definitely is no joke. The good news is, the surgery is considered in high regard and importance and the recovery time is super quick. Scarring is also quite small and there's a new see-through bandage that heals them better.

My advice to you OP is to book a check at the GP (even though it can be embarrassing, just go with it) and make sure when you go to get the surgery done, get to know your surgeon well, ask LOTS of questions (you have every right to make sure you feel comfortable) and try to get the surgery done in a way that it won't split your abs in two (middle). There are two options, one big incision, or laproscopic key-hole surgery, where 2 or 3 key-hole size punctures are made for tools and a camera (similar to gall bladder surgery). If you choose the second, you can probably opt to have them in your naval area.

Just know that being proactive and precautionary is a good thing.

My brother had a hernia and I've studied a bit in this area.

I still say you have a poo baby.

Ultrasound gel is damn cold though. You also might get a crazy bish you tries to stab it right through you. Has happened to me several times.

Hernia?!?!! You were lucky to only have a hernia! I remember when I got my first tumor - dad sharpened up the saw and cut it off. Didn't miss a day down pit.

A saw! I remember the rich family living in the box next to ours had a saw. Lucky bastards, spoilt rotten I say!
