Trades:
1. Jack Newnes for Isaac Smith
- Saints need more outside run and carry and Smith has demonstrated that he is one of the best in the game over the last few years. Also brings leadership and winning experience to a young team.
2. steven,Carlsile and Gresham for JPK, D Smith, Burton and 2017 Hawks 2nd.
-Felt that the Saints lacked a premo mid and JPK dits the bill. Had to give up a bit but fell the trades overall were an upgrade. Saints did without Carlsile last year so it is known they can improve without him.
3.Bruce and Ross and stk 3rd for Beams and McStay (SCENARIO )
-Disappointed with loosing Bruce, but needed to have a player to lead the scenario trade as didnt feel Ross atm is enough of drawcard. Was able to get an a grade mid and a developing swingman.
4. Angus Litherland (Draft)
5.Longer and Nth Melb 4th for Langdon and Pies 3rd
- Longer did get interest from a number of teams and from a saints point of view was to be used to bring in a best 18 player.
6. Savage and 4th rd for Wallis and Dogs 3rd rd.
-Scenario player to the saints which was worked out before the trade. Wouldnt have gone after Wallis himself so a discount to get the trade done. Happy with the trade and not as biased as some scenario trades in the game.
7. Montagna for Paparone
- With Montagna likely not being best 22 by seasons end took the opportunity to bring in a young depth key defender.
8. Battle for Griffiths
- Was looking for a third tall target fwd to take attention away from McCartin and Membrey. While not the most desirable player he is in he tigers best 18 and still has potential for improvement. May be a short term vision trade but it should achive its desired results.
9. Masten and Gold Coast 3rd for Steele
- Steele was a required player, but was on the fringe and trading hasnt compromised depth. Bringing in a solid, experienced contributor in Masten will fill some experience void. Extra pick put this over the line.

F: Hutchings L.Jones Ballantyne
Foll: Clarke D.Pearce Simpkin
Int: Karpany, Gorter, Allen, Spencer

Rest of players: Waterman, Brophy, Watson, Bayok, Mutimer, McInnes

Trades:
1) Natanui, Cole & Jetta for M.Murphy and Kreuzer
quite dissapointed with this trade. Wanted to trade him out as he was injured for next year but don't know what i was thinking really. to let him go for that. Don't care about Jetta leaving. would rather Liam Jones with a broken leg than L.Jetta

2) Giles for Fitzpatrick
I rate Fitzy more than others. showed he can be quite handy late last year. Don't rate Giles. Fitzy is handy depth.

3) Redden for Buckley
I rate Buckley. Redden has gone nowhere. Buckley has some talent and from what i've seen is a decent player.

4) West Coast Get: Jarryd Roughead, Crameri, Webb, M.Boyd, McEvoy and Stratton
Hawthorn Get: English, Lycett, McLean and Rotham
Bulldogs Get: Darling, Cripps, M.Murphy/Masten, Willsmore
This was my favourite trade. I get Roughead(haw), Stratton, Crameri, McEvoy, M.Boyd & Webb for Lycett, Rotham, Darling, J.Cripps & M.Murphy.
I get a great KPF. He may not play early on in the year but if he comes back anywhere near his usual self then he will be very dangerous alongside J.Kennedy. Crameri injects a good 3rd tall into the team to replace Darling(who was my scenario), Stratton gives me a high quality player who can lock down on 3rd talls, Medium or small forwards or even a dangerous midfielder that has gone forward(Dangerfield, D.Martin etc.). Consider McEvoy much better than Lycett. McEvoy is more effective around the ground and Lycett is injured. M.Boyd is good experienced midfielder/half back.

5) Matt Boyd & Masten for Burgoyne & Mackay
Don't rate Masten and i really wanted Burgoyne who is the finals specialist for a team going for a flag. Mackay is just steaknives

6) Duggan, Sheed & Wellingham for Frawley, Hodge & Henderson
Wanted a quality KPD & good midfielder. He wasn't quite convinced with Duggan & Sheed for Frawley & Hodge so i added Wellingham & Henderson to the equation and got the deal done. great deal for me.

7) Schofield & Vardy for Tyson, Frost & Spencer
Wanted a decent midfielder so i traded Schoefield & Vardy for Tyson and Frost + Spencer. Frost just gives me KPD depth however not as good as Schofield. Tyson is a handy player who has a bit of everything in his game. Spencer is just steaknives

8) Snadden for L.Jones
Wanted a KPF. Think L.Jones gets it a bit harsh. obviously isn't great backup but with a great team around him could fill a hole for a game or 2.

9) Petrie for Mackie
Don't really rate Petrie. Think he's cooked.

10) Brisbane Get: Lamb + WC 2017 3rd & 4th
West Coast Get: Lions 3rd & 4th
Upgrading my some picks. Don't rate Lamb.

11) Xavier Richards - DFA
Was lucky enough to have pick #1 in the DFA type draft we had so i could get Richards.

12) West Coast Get: C.Rioli
Sydney Get: L.Schuey
Really like this trade. Think it's a steal. There's no other player quite like Cyril.

13) Jonathan Simpkin - DFA
Just handy midfield depth

14) West Coast Get: A.Silvagni
Carlton Get: Mackie
Handy KPD depth to replace Schofield. Basically got A.Silvagni for Petrie

15) West Coast get: Gibson
GWS get: Venables, Bris 3rd
May have paid overs here but wanted to get in Gibson so i could trade out Emac or Mcgovern for Midfielders as i was quite short on mids.

16) West Coast get: Cotchin & Ross
Brisbane get: J.McGovern & Barrass
Here's that trade i was talking about earlier. Get a couple quality mids in to even the team balance up. Barrass isn't that big of a loss for me.Neither was McGovern really as he wasn't really needed with Gibbo in the side

17) Fremantle get: WC 1st, Partington, W.Rioli & Pittonet
West Coast get: Clarke, Ballantyne, D.Pearce & Suban
Hawthorn get: Hughes
Get some more depth in in expense for a couple young players and a 1st. Needed depth for a team going for a premiership. my 2nds team is one of the best going around imo.

Bio
"We entered this trading period thinking our premiership window was wide open. As such, we tried to build on our list to deliver our fans 2 flags in the next 4 years. We have effectively put all our eggs in this basket and we believe we have the opportunity provided we can address some areas, in particular the midfield and also stopping teams once they are on a roll.

We believe we have addressed the midfield issue, recruiting Nat Fyfe, who we consider the best mid in the game; Dustin Martin who we think will be even better in a top 8 team, as well as Tom Liberatore and David Mundy to offer elite inside strength. Mundy can play a lock down role, but we recruited Mitch Robinson as a designated tagger and someone who can annoy an opposition player. These two plus the additional experience we gained we think will help us combat opposition momentum.

To the midfield we have also added some exciting speed and outside players in Jason Johanisson and Ryan Griffen to compliment Brodie Smith, who will all share time on the wing and across half back.
Speaking of the backline, we regretfully had to trade out Daniel Talia and Jake Lever to get Nat Fyfe and Dustin Martin to Adelaide Oval, but in Sam Day, Kyle Hartigan, Michael Johnson, Grant Birchall, Matt Boyd, Rory Laird and Luke Brown offer great flexibilty, experience and a good blend of attacking and defensive options for any attack we come up against.

We also lost Taylor Walker for Tom Liberatore and Jake Stringer. We think we have a very attacking and hard to match up on forward line. Eddie Betts and Lindsay Thomas are 2 of the best small forwards while Jake Stringer and Dustin Martin are possibly the hardest two medium forwards to match up on in the competition. Dustin will most likely spend his time equally between the forward line and midfield. Tom Lynch who averaged 20 posessions and kicked 40 goals last year remains a critical and under rated cog, along with Josh Jenkins (62 goals). Sam Reid joins the club as an aerial competitor who is rarely beaten, and will play as a lead up high half forward complimenting Lynch and making space for the rest of the forward line.

Overall we were very happy with the trade period, addressing the midfield top end talent (Fyfe, Martin, Liberatore) while adding diversity and additional potency to the forwards (Stinger, Thomas, Martin) and maintaining a strong and balanced defence. Finally, we traded in Stefan Martin to lead the rucks, who offers more agility and ball winning ability around the ground. Matt Lobbe will support Stefan as needed and we are confident he can return to his 2014 form by being ultra competitive in the air and at ground level.

2017 picks
Brisbane 1st round
St.Kilda 3rd round
Fremantle 3rd round
West Coat 4th round

Overall summery: I looked at rebuilding Brisbane's list while trying to retain the recent draftees, at the exception of Keays and Hipwood I was able to do that. I traded out established players such as Rockliff, Zorko, Rich, Martin, Christensen and an Injury-prone Beams for young talent such as Mitch Mcgovern, Tom Barrass, Clayton Oliver, Lachie Weller, Jack Steele Wayne Milera and Billy Stretch who are all under 22 as well as Sam Collins (23) and Jeremy McGovern (24)

Backline: I believe the backline is a real strong point for Brisbane now. Collins and Barrass will control the oppositions best forward while McGovern will do what he does best, zone off and intercept. Jack Frost is the back up KPD while Harris Andrews could also slot in. Sam Mayes will be joined by Jarrod Berry and Cedric Cox to help provide different avenues out of defence, with Witherdon waiting in the wings.

Midfield: Although losing names like Beams, Rockliff, Zorko, Rich and Robinson may seem strange, Brisbane has completely regenerated its on ball decision. Jack Steele and Clayton Oliver will have more responsibility to help improve their development, they will be mentored by Leigh Montagna. Lachie Weller, Billy Stretch will rotate with McCluggage, Bastinac and Milera on the outside with Baratt and Bell waiting to get a crack.

Forwards: the forward line was built around Josh Schache pre trade period, now the pressure has been eased on Schache with Mitch McGovern joining him to cap off an impressive young key position depth for the club. Harris Andrews will be developed as a forward considering the depth in the backline, Ivan Maric and Archie Smith will split time between the forward line and ruck. On the flanks Pick 3 in the 2016 Draft Hugh McCluggage will be joined by Pick 11 in the 2015 draft Wayne Milera, both players will both onto the wings and deep forward at times, Lewis Taylor will also be played as a permanent small forward hoping to regain his early career form. Josh Walker, Yestin Eases and Tom Lamb are capable depth options.

Final outcome: Brisbane's list pre trade was almost in no mans land, they had few star players meaning there wasn't much currency to bring quality players to the club, and while their young players had potential I wasn't too keen to get rid of the future. So my plan was to completely rebuild Brisbane's Best 22 And the only way to do this was trade out most of the senior players. Post trade, Brisbane's list is in a better position than previously with the KPP stocks particularly healthy and young (<24) both back and forward meaning the team shouldn't have to worry about this for the next ten years, the midfield is relatively young and inexperienced, though Montagna will provide leadership Jack Steele and Clayton Oliver will provide grunt and will be no easy beats, with quality outside class in Lachie Weller, Bastinac and McCluggage/Milera the midfield will eventually be a strong unit. ( I tried to use the 2017 1st round pick to bring a quality midfielder to the team on the final day, but only a few teams were active. This can be done next season or could be used to draft another quality kid to add to the new impressive list.

Trades:
Jack Riewoldt, Shai Bolton and Corey Ellis for Mitch Duncan, Jake Kolodjashnij and George Horlin-Smith

Daniel Rioli for Mitchell Hibberd (scenario)

Alex Rance for Aaron Francis, Josh Begley and Essendon 2017 first.

Aaron Francis for Alex Morgan, Essendon 2017 2nd, and Nick Haynes. (Essentially, Rance for Haynes, Begley, Morgan, 2017 1st and 2017 2nd.)

Trent Cotchin and Ivan Maric for Eric Hipwood and Will Brodie

Dustin Martin and Bachar Houli for Brad Crouch and Jake Lever

Ben Griffiths for Josh Battle

2017 picks on hand- Richmond, Geelong and Essendon 1st, Essendon and Richmond 2nd, GWS and Richmond 3rd, Richmond 4th, 5th, etc.

Basic trading idea was to turn the list into a really young and talented one. Rance, Riewoldt, Cotchin, Maric, Houli all great players but I dont see them in the next premiership. So I turned that into younger talent; Haynes, Lever, Hipwood, Brodie, Begley, Duncan, Morgan and also now have 3 2017 1sts and 2 2nd rounders. Dusty and Houli for Crouch and Lever suited me as I see Crouch and Lever as future stars; Dusty is elite but could be leaving and taking those two players will be good in the push for a premiership in the future which is the only realistic bet. Have very little players now on the list over the age of 25 and depth of the team will further improve after 2017 draft.

Grigg Lever Hunt
Ellis Prestia Caddy
Duncan Hipwood McIntosh

TRADES
1. Sydney get Bryce Gibbs + Nick Graham + Ciaran Byrne
Carlton get Dean Towers + Sam Reid + Darcy Cameron + Harry Cunningham

We have traded a lot of depth here to pick up Gibbs. An A grade talant that will benefit from finally playing in a top side. Byrne is a speedy backmen with nice skills. Graham will add nice inside ball winning depth
2. Sydney get Ben Reid + Lachlan Keefe + Jackson Ramsey
Collingwood get Heath Grundy + Zac Jones + Jeremy Laidler

We might look like losers out of this deal but getting Reid is massive. He is one of the best CHBs in the league. Keefe adds great depth to our small KPD. Ramsey was a throw in.
3. Sydney get Angus Brayshaw + Dean Kent
Melbourne get Dane Rampe

Rampe requested a trade to Melbounre. In return we get a young gun mid in Brayshaw and handy goal kicking depth in Kent, Kent will put real pressure on Papley to back up a strong debut season.
4. Sydney get Daniel Rich
Brisbane get Sydney's 1st round pick

Rich, like Gibbs should perform well in a finals side. There will be many eyes on the half back/ mid.
5. Sydney get Nathan Krakouer
Port Adelaide get Shaun Edwards

Depth for depth trade here. Krakouer gives us a small lock down defender and also offers some good rebound.
6. Sydney get Levi Casboult
Carlton get James Rose + Jackson Ramsey

We need a key forward as depth.Casboult should kick plenty in the NEAFL and will be decent cover for Buddy and Tippett. Sad to see Rose go as we rate him pretty highly.
7. Sydney get Luke Schuey
West Coast get Cyril Rioli

Trades:
1) Geelong Get: S.Hill + Fremantle 5th rounder
Fremantle Get: Bolton, Parfitt & Geelong 4th Rounder
S.Hill to Geelong was my scenario. Planning for a rebuild so getting a couple young half-forwards/midfielders was a good result

2) Connor Noonan - Draft thingy
He has all the tools athleticism wise. Needs to sharpen up on his skills but could be a good player. plays in midfield.

3) Fremantle get: Sydney 2017 1st & Brisbane 2017 2nd
Brisbane get: Weller & Fremantles 2017 3rd
Getting these picks for Weller was good.

4) Adelaide Get: Mundy & Geelongs 2017 4th
Fremantle Get: J.Gallucci & Adelaide 2017 3rd
Getting another talented young midfielder in the side + another upgrade on picks.

5)
Fremantle Get: Ceglar
Hawthorn Get: Witts
Gold Coast Get: Sandilands
I liked this trade. was a true. win/win/win scenario. I get a good young ruckman however he will be injured for 2017 season. Gold Coast get great experienced ruckman. Sydney get a young ruckman that will be playing in 2017.

6)
Freo get: D.Talia + J.Bruce + R.Mathieson + Crows 2nd + WC 3rd
Bris get: M.McGovern + C.Masten + S.Collins
Adel get: N.Fyfe + M.Johnson + S.Martin
Big Trade. Freo needed KPP's. This trade took almost a week to get done. Fyfe is a big loss but a solid Defence & Forward is very important.

7)
Jason Williams - Draft Thingy
He got injured on the recruit and was forced home. Thought he was going to win it the 1st time i saw him play. dominated games in the recuit and has a real X-factor about him.

8)
Fremantle get: WC 1st, Partington, W.Rioli & Pittonet
West Coast get: Clarke, Ballantyne, D.Pearce & Suban
Hawthorn get: Hughes
Freo get young talent and a 1st rounder for some older/depth players

Overview: Came into this trade period with the goal of bringing in a younger team which could challenge for a flag in 4-6 years time. I've kept some experience as we know that you can't just chuck young players into a side without anyone leading them. I've traded out players like: Mundy, S.Hill, Sandilands, Ballantyne, Suban, D.Pearce, Z.Clarke & Fyfe which was a tough one but I thought the KPP stocks needed a boost. I brought in players like: J.Bruce, D.Talia, J.Gallucci, J.Bolton, Parfitt, Partington, Mathieson, Ceglar. While Pitonett & W.Rioli fills depth gaps as i traded away Sandi, Z.Clarke & Ballantyne and the man i traded in for Sandi (Ceglar) is out for the year with injury
Although i did trade couple young players out like Weller & Hughes. I did was i wanted to do in gaining a younger list with keeping experience such as Spurr, Ibbotson,
