I am posting my thoughts now so I can go out and get drunk...:(

1) Hall's worst game of the season
2) Same for Jolly (although understandable given the events of last 48 hours)
3) We did not play tempo. I felt that as if we wanted to match Eagles' pace and lost control of the match (1st half)
4) Eagles played great. They almost adopted our style of '05.

Feel free to post..

Jolly. Hall. LRT didn't show up. Ablett was injured and had no impact. That's 4 players MIA and all relatively senior players. Probably the difference in the end. We missed Crouch too, he would've had the Kerr job, not Matthews.

Malceski, Doyle, Richards, McVeigh....awasome performance.:thumbsu:

yeah I'm @@@@ed off and all but Hallsy missed some SIMPLE KICKS. we could've won by 3 or so goals. People will say at least we won in 2005 but in the end that doesn't matter, the WINNING TEAM WILL BE REMEMBERED!!!!!

My thoughts on the game [it might be a long one]

Overall, Sydney were okay. In the first half we were ordinary. We were terrible and we were buried by the midfielders. Sydney wasn't playing their style of footy, it was different and ordinary. However, in saying that, Swans always would claw their way back up. Great goals my Macleski and Nick Davis.

Best on ground: Ted Richards was very very influential. He has changed and its great to see him play his first GF. He really fought hard and really gave us the chance to back to back. Once he kicked the ball out on the full, he was exhausted... he almost fainted!!! :( But he was definetley one of the best players in that match.

Goodes. Okay, he was hardly playing in the first half but exploded in the second half and knew what to do. Another influential player and kicked a handy goal in the first open minutes of the last Q. He gave us the clearances we needed, which was good. Unfortunatley, we lost by one point. When Goodes cried... it was painful to watch. He's such a great player... i love Adam!

Nick Davis: Unbelievable! I really thought it was going to be another semi final match. Nick kicking crucial goals. He was inspirational... and when he was crying. That image will never ever be erased, same with Goodes. Nick Davis played pretty well.

Worse: Has to be Hall, his aggression was really overtaking him. I hated the fact that when we marked he would pass the ball, and by the way, it was an ordinary pass to some of the Swans who missed and then a turn over. Wasn't playing his best finals game...i thought he would've fired up today. Guess not.

Leo Barry: He is too short. Couldn't defend today. Wasn't at his best. :(

Jolly: I wouldn't blame him. After what happened the elast 48 hours. But seriously... Cox dominated the ruck. Doyle was better than Jolly today.

Surprising: Amon :) I love him and all but how ordinary was he? The fumble, it killed me! But oh wells, i thought he would be influential in the game. Played well in the first half and well, disappeared in the 2nd half. :(

Okay, that should be enough. My eyes are stinging and i'm feeling really down. One point. Argh. But congratz to WCE...however at the end of the day they did deserve to win. It would've been better if we won though! :)

Oh wells, another season gone. 2007 here we come!

Go the Bloods!

Back from pub. Decided against getting trashed...Getting too old.

Agree with all your sentiment. I actually think we may be witnessing the decline of Leo Barry as a full back. Love the guy for his heart, pace and skill. However, his day of containing tall timbers may be numbered.

This brings an interesting thought. If LRT does not improve further, we have lack of powerful talls at the back. Similar to the concern we had about 2-3 years ago (labouriously debated at R&WOnline).

I think we are witnessing his decline. This year, he was awful. He really gives out frees, and they're really hurting the team. Personally, i wince everytime he has the footy. He loves to run, twist and turn and eventually it ends up as a turn over. Just kick the bloody footy.

LRT, he's a different player. He isn't playing the brand of football we are use to see him do. However, i'm pretty confident LRT will improve. Everyone doubted LRT was going to improve, but he did. Just maybe lacking in confidence. However, we got Ted Richards, a tall forward (and a cute one too). But i do think we need a powerful tall player.
