Was this a slow burn as reported .....or a typical Tarantino movie .....Django still my favourite

Slow burn, 90% into the movie you’re still wondering when the plot is going to reveal itself. There’s a couple of clues on 5he way, but nothing is going on for ages. Still entertaining enough though.

I like old movies, that were slow burns, with great stories .....not sure the current generation could sit thru "Lawrence of Arabia" or "Gone With the Wind"

Films I've seen recently

Joker - Decent, but not worthy of so many award nominations outside acting

Hustlers - I heard from some people this movie is more than it seems. It really isn't.

Good Boys - I laughed a few times

Rise of Skywalker - I'm a Star Wars fan and I liked it

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - I'm a Tarantino fan, and this is my least favorite of his films

The Irishman - Really great. The ending justifies its long run time

Stuber - Stupid film. Bad.

The Lego Movie 2 - Unnecessary sequel that isn't that good and adds nothing

Detective Pikachu - Terrible

Probably don't have a standout film. Like about 200 films equally.
Will instead give opinion on Oscar results:

Best Picture:
Out of The Irishman or 1917. Joker and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood overrated.

Winner:
1917

Actor in a supporting role
Out of Pacino and Pitt.
Winner:
Pitt

Actor in a leading role:
Out of Phoenix and DiCaprio
Winner: Phoenix

Best Director:
Scorsese The Irishman

Have no idea who will win the female categories. Saw none of these films yet.

I found the ending really disappointing, the whole movie felt like part a of something.

Never saw a 2nd one.
Yeah. It started ok, seemed to be character and story driven, despite all the CGI.

Then it went out the window, became a CG fest, tried to cram too much in, felt rushed & messy.

I thought it was a bad movie.

Here's my worst movies:

Mamma Mia! - I hate musicals and this is the worst one ever made. Awful butchering of ABBA songs and a disgraceful story. The only film I've ever seen that I'd give a 0 rating.

Date Movie - I'm glad they don't make as many of these films any more

Jennifer's Body - So dumb it's painful. Lost brain capacity watching this dumpster fire.

Fifty Shades of Grey - Diabolical dialogue. Some of the worst lines ever spoken in a film. Awful acting and an awful story too.

The Blair Witch Project - I hated this film and all films of this style. How are people scared by these films?

The Final Destination - How does this film series have five terrible entries? The worst of them is this one

Unfriended - Boring and not scary. I guess horror films are often huge misses for me

Australia - Baz Luhrmann SUCKS and this is his worst film

The Party - Normally I don't mind these sorts of films, but this one is pure s**t. Highly pretentious, uninteresting and stupid.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - By far the worst superhero film I've seen

Can't argue with any of those movies ....I give the Fantastic Four a bit of a reprieve, in that it just dated very quickly, in comparison to other Super Hero movies

I'll add a bad film too

Drowning Mona

Anyone see The Squid and the Whale? Relationship breakdown movie

By Noah Baumbach (sometime Wes Anderson offsider) whose most recent film Marriage Story has been getting good reviews. Haven't seen that one yet
Haven't seen "The Squid and the Whale" .....but reluctantly watched "Marriage Story" ....ho hum movie, subject matter been done infinitum ....nothing of standout value

Watched marriage story last night. I really liked it. Such a grim portrayal of a relationship break down and I bet it hits close to home for so many people.

It's long though.

Edit: the acting was brilliant. Scarlett Johansen is nailing get roles lately

You didn't find it all too depressing ....I really like to be entertained in a movie, not come out depressed

Yeah I love melancholic and dark movies and music! I don't know why. I love all sorts of genres though.
Same here ....melancholic classical music scores of the 40's and 50's .....is how I developed my love of Rachmaninoff
