Caught the end of the Channel 10 news last night and they said that the AFL was looking at 2 incidents in the Freo v Bullies practice match.

Does anyone have any information on this matter?.

High tackle / bump to the head of Farmer?.

Retaliation by Farmer?.

Seems funny that there was no vision of the incident, no report by the umpires, but the review panel has made a judgement?.

Anyway life goes on, it just would have been nice to have seen the vision so that I could put it in my "tribunal consistency file" for later in the year when a similar incident occurs.

Cook out, opens the door for someone else.

One channel showed footage (I think it was 9), the other 2 said there was no footage. He came from outside the square and cleaned someone up at a centre bounce. Bulldog player was upright, contact wasn't high but he wasn't expecting it and the ball probably wasn't within 5 metres. One week probably fair, 2 a little harsh IMHO. Hopefully he doesn't change his style of play when he comes back, Cook's been very aggressive in the preseason and for the allstars which is something we need.

There was footage on channel 10 I think, the only praccy game that got filmed. The bump cook laid was right on the edge of the shot :(

Almost got lucky.. realistically, and even seeing it on the day, i wasn't surprised he got something for it, was a big hit and he ran off the square like a man possessed guera style. Was good to see. It was only a hip and shoulder though and wasn't high, surprised they listed it as 3 weeks or 2, should have been 2 weeks or 1 for the early plea.

Cookie was doing some good tough things in that game, I think he knows he'll have to become an enforcer style ball winner or tight lock down defender to justify his place week in week out, and he did that well against the bullies. Shame he got nabbed for it though.

Here are some stills of the hit:
He does go past the ball to make contact, but the ball is within 5m.
Apart from going past the ball, the arm is tucked in, his feet are on the ground, though the contact is a bit high. Either way, he has 2 weeks, now the tribunal just has to keep it consistent.

Thanks for that Freodocker.

Cook was very, very stiff.

I'll bet my left nut we'll see a dozen of these hits throughout the year and nothing will be done - they'll all go by the wayside and not even be sighted.

Those stills make the suspension look weak as ********. Fair bump really.

In the context of the game though, where he started and without looking at the ball just charging in to pick him off, I guess they had to get him. Just hope they keep it consistent. Seeing it was a praccy match i'm not happy with it.. but if it was season proper i'd be happy for someone to get 2 weeks to put their stamp on the game early.

Pretty poor all round I reckon - if thats worth 2 weeks I would hate to see how many footballers the clubs will have sitting in the crowds by the last round. Also FFC should have gone in to bat for Cookie.

The standards have set by the game review panel, now they must stand by them............................ pigs 'll fly.

FreoDocker, keep those stills in your archives, I think we will be referring back to them regularly this season.

I'll go one better Masai!
Here's a link to a video of the hit. I expect it should set the standard for this year.
