Cheers, got myself one of those turntables with a pre-amp, the theory being you plug it straight in the back of the computer and record all of your old vinyl and put it on CD. Problem is, I get a hum when I "record." I tried it hooked up to a mate's computer and no problems. He has a sound card and mine is "on board". Is that the problem, or is it more likely circuitry in my house? Sounds wierd I know. I've tried running the turntable from a power point on the other side of the house, but no joy. Has anybody else experienced this? Thanx :)

Do you get the humm from your HiFi as well?

There is a way to do it... Althought I wouldn't recommend this if you weren't an ace at electronics, as it involes removing stuff.

You really should ask someone like an electritian or ask some Hifi store.

Took it, the turntable, to a mate's place and it worked like a charm. The difference, we figure, is he had a sound card, and mine is "on board". Sound fair?
No hum when hooked up to a hifi, but you turn the pre-amp off when you hook it up to a hifi.
