Preview Pre season 2012/13 - posting style merits

I am very loathe to suppress people expressing themselves with exaggeration and poetic license. Posters like me for instance will be left with little to say

Expressing yourself using poetic license and stretching the truth of a subject is fine, heck we all do it. Making bold prediction that player x, y or Z will become the next superstar of the competition just opens up a can of worms for future pain for the player.

Stopping the shits before it starts. When we can show we won't bait each other and jsut stick to pre-season discussion I'll let the fun creep back in

Perhaps we all shouldn't be so precious for goodness sake it's an internet forum about a football team shouldn't it be enjoyable and a bit of fun? No one on here are experts in the football field and we all see different things in styles of play and players that's the primary reason we all get on here, isn't it?

you suggest some shouldn't be so precious (yes I know it's directed at me) but don't you get a wee bit precious in some comments?

No it doesn't, unless you believe BF is a significant part of their lives. What it does do is allow you to step up to your 'man sized' soap box and bang on about it for another 20 posts.

My comments are entirely directed at people already getting ready to slam someone {even carding has been mentioned} if god forbid they go to a training get excited and write a report and make a "too glowing" comment on a player. I am in the country and have little to no access to training and I for one don't want people to feel too threatened to write a report - encourage don't discourage!

FWIW, I was talking about the players' lives. It's quite obvious to everyone how my much BF means to you.

But how does that help your understanding of their development?

If you can not see that player in person for obvious reasons and then at a future time get the opportunity to see them live, how does that 'glowing appraisal' help your perception of the squad? doesn't this hurt it as you have this built up understand this player can do this, this and this? yet, due to the glowing appraisal your understanding has been squashed.

I don't have any problem with the reports, in fact I like them.

I just don't want to read that player X, Y or Z is on track to play 20 AFL games yet get stuck in the SANFL. I want to an honest assessment, not a sycophantic one.

I don't see how that is even an issue. Yes, I enjoy reading the forum as it allowed to gain a perspective on the up and coming season. If I read a glowing appraisal and then watching them and they don't meet that level - shouldn't I be asking myself why am I wasting my time?

Once again sorry, bigfella but I felt the last few post, especially the one with Where Groom Gone were in context top the discussion.

Saying that, having a discussion isn't always peaches and cream with a nice conversation. That's because people are passionate about the subject so sometime the conversations become heated. There is a difference between bickering and heated, I felt like their has been no bickering so far but good honest heated debate.

If this forum has got to the point where people can not interact with each other and communicate with more than 3 or 4 post back and forth before someone suggests it's bickering, what's the point in having a discussion forum? It's having a heated debate and IMO, they are good.

Express your opinion, defend your point of view and get it out there.
